Hi - I put a 3/4 grown Mangano in a Display tank Sunday and now it's dead - a Litherbate and a blue striped Muba bashed it up - I also added a small fish that has an orange head but not yet in and he's fine - is it best to introduce small fish or say 6 adults at a time or sometjhing else - I thought if anyone was going to be the boss it would be the Mangano.................thanks mal

Quick tips what I do and what has worked for me:
1. rearrange around your rocks/plants/ornaments before you add in new fish
2. adding in more fish at a time is better - to distribute the aggression
3. if this doesn't work.. if you have a spare tank, take out the bullies for a few days then add them back in.. this gives a chance for the other fish to settle in without being too stressed or bullied
hope this helps mate

Also i have found if you wait till about an hour after lights out, scoop the fish out (makes them easier to catch as well) and chuck them in the new tank like you would any other, and release into a half asleep tank. this gives the new guys a good chance to find a hiding place without being chased into a corner or beaten up in the process. And then in the morning the new guys know to keep a low profile and the older fish have no idea anything has happened. works for me

rearranging works with malawis, but not with tangs if you are trying to breed them
thanks Poncho for the tip re: tangs at the last PCS meeting
