Often scar tissue or skin that is repairing itself after a fight/damage can appear dark/black. If it is just around the mouth of the two fish, it might have come about from jaw locking/fighting from some days ago, especially if they both have it in the same area at the same time.
Nerve damage normally appears as a large darkened area, can be caused by tumours putting pressure on nerves that control the colouration of the skin. Not the case here if it has happened to two fish at the same time in the same area and the spots are small and multiple.

sorry i didnt make it clear before
spots are small, multiple but on 4 moori and possibly 3 venustus
it looks as if pigments of colour have changed to black, showing black spots on fish fins etc
They are not raised from the body

I would not worry about it for now... just keep an eye on it and see if they get worse. A pic would be good if you are still worried.
If the fish stop eating or clamp up and scratch, let us know. Keep an eye on other fish or other tank inhabitants that might pick on them (day or night). Check all water parameters just in case too if you wish, just to be sure.

Will try post a pic soon. they are still eating and behaving like normal, so i am thinking it is more of an inconvience - as they are scratching a bit more
Have been testing water parameters every 2 days and looking normal..
will do a 30% water change tonight as well
thanks for info ppl

I had the same problem before with black dots appearing near the mouth area of various fish. Unlike yours, mine didn't show any increased flashing/scratching. Apparently it's fairly common and affects Malawi cichlids in particular. Its cause is not known but some believe it's associated to high nitrate levels.
