After reading in the news about a pet shop that has "allegedly" sold puppies from a dog farm, I saw another news article about Oscars Law.

Worth a read: http://www.oscarslaw.org

Don't buy puppies from Pet shops.... Adopt!

I though it was a bad fish farm for oscars!
We go to pet shops all the time and compare our dogs (french bulldogs) to theirs and notice how inbred and ugly they are but people aren't aware and still buy them!

I work in a pet store and I am very aware of the group 'oscars law'.. They don't outline any changes they want to make they just assert that all puppies come from puppy farms and say they want to ban it..

The woman that started the group in fact stole the dog from what she believed was a puppy farm and later had to return the dog back to its rightful owner.. She later then purchased the dog from the so called farm after claiming she 'saved' the dog... Hypocrite..

The oscars law group are just a bunch of uninformed idiots who would prefer to see all dogs bred in a backyard with no regulations... I'm all for adopting a dog from a rescue home etc but it's just not practical for some people..

Before you jump on board with a ridiculous group such as this have a look at the actual facts and make up your own mind

I was listening to 6PR ( AM talk back radio for those young ones ) a few weeks back, They had some Perth dog specialist on there and the question was asked about puppy farming, her response was that she was happy with it as long as all the guidelines were met and the place of business was kept to a high standard.
She had found most of the ones in WA were holding to a very high standard.
She also remarked that she would prefer a dog from a good puppy farm as the dogs that come from good ones are actually better than Joe Blogs who has just got a litter of pups from his bitch and he has no idea what the breed was that got to her but still the pet shop will charge an exuberant price.

6PR is great, would love it if they canned MR Fence Sitter Peter Bell. Gemma Tognini hurts my ears too!

Pig farms
goat farms
fish farms
dog farms
fundamentally, what's the difference?

What are the chances of that? That's cool!

It's good that you're having a look at the actual facts and making up your own mind :P

Yep good article. As soon as I see anything associated with ACA, it loses all credibility.

I used to think the same Jason, I wasn't a fan of ACA puppies until I read through the legislation from NSW about the conditions that breeding bitches are meant to be kept in for the health of the bitch and her litter. The ACA reference in the article is from the oscars law Facebook page... ACA is one puppy breeder that actually follows the regulations set out by NSW government :)

I can see both sides of people's arguements, but still I can't get on board with oscars law.. Debra Tranter is a liar and loves misinforming people to push her own agenda..

Can't stand the tv news and their speakers, far to much hoo har, so I don't watch any of it.
Prefer the radio news, straight to the point and no rediculous blowouts of proportions.
