After talking to some colleagues C. albidus is a hookey name dreamt up in WA. It is genetically identical to C. destructor. It does not have a halotype registered from eastern Australia. In summary we have yabbies C. destructor in WA.

Sure the cost is the point. The product isn't icthyotoxic though. You need to be clear on toxicity and/or ability to clean. As I said not a big deal with round up it isn't a "poison."

I don't see the issue, as long as it is round up - it breaks down on sunlight, can be washed with detergent and water. I've used barrels to commercial breed marine species (fish and seahorses) and used for freshwater ornamentals (fish and shrimp)

No the stocking was well thought out and considered to establish them as a recreational species, similar to trout. A viable breeding population could not be established and they died out. You have to remember that they did this with many species including silver and golden perch. It is what a proactive fisheries did in that time. Given climate and such wouldn't you prefer they continued to stock eastern state species rather than trout? I'm not sure why there hasn't been a push to change stockings of some of the northern most trout streams and dams...

They were stocked in the Avon in about the sixties with the last recorded catch in the eighties. They aren't all that different from trout or redfin or yabbies that have already highly modified the majority of our waterways...

Rectangular tanks fit space better. Round ones it is easier to set up currents to have even WQ and assist in cleaning. Obviously you can achieve the same in the right proportioned rectangular tank.

You can fit port holes on round tanks. The size is determined by the diameter of the tank.

I put viewing port holes I our big 30-50t tanks when breeding cod. The had a diameter of about 45cm, with a total diameter of 60cm. The trick was to make them round so there was no corner pressure. They were held in place with silicone only and about a meter under the water surface.

Jason on what basis have they moved on? For example was it because they were outside regulatory power or deferred for other ops?

Is it still a risk to the hobbyist or shop to keep/sell?
