#366325 Fish Room Shed Build

Posted by KurtFreitag on 23 July 2018 - 11:34 AM in Journals

Few Updates.

Finally got around to upgrading air - got 2x Resun LP-1000 air pumps and installed a 40mm PVC loop around the room.

Reverse Cycle got installed so not more heating tanks

Also received a group of WC Mobas and 10 F1 Mikulas

Looking good.

I'm a little concerned that your side panels hang over the support base id hate to hear that the seal breaks.

Done. I never want to see another bulkhead ever again.

Now to add bracing to half the tanks and remove the dividers.

Started the plumbing and water tests everything seems to be behaving so far.

Added Texas pair and moved in my dolphin pair as the female was being harassed in the community tank.

First residences in the fish room pair of green terrors and 40+ fry. My wife couldnt resist adding all the crap ornaments and i wanted it bare bottom 😬. Now to get onto plumbing the rest of the tanks.

Appreciate the offer 😄 solar is definitely something id consider. Still ways off adding water - progress feels like it has stalled abit.

Managed to prep another rack section this afternoon.

Thanks :)

Biggest thing i can advise is plan. I whacked this up in 2 weeks with no planning what so ever so it cost me more in materials etc as i mostly over estimated, not by much but it all adds up in the end.

Regarding insulation i went with Ametalin Thermalbrane sheets on the ceiling and then R4 earthwool insulation and 10mm gyprock. Walls i think are a R2.

I haven't chosen a reverse cycle yet but that's what will be heating the room in the long run. I will have a few sumps running in the beginning but ultimately id rather have majority of the tanks running independent.

Hope this helps.

I messed up the roof because i have no clue what I'm doing when it comes to building anything  so i have to add external support beams now because my 4x2 spacing was to great and i don't want to run the risk of the gyprock sagging or falling down.. Live and learn i guess.

#363115 Fish Room Shed Build

New member here so id like to firstly say Hi.

I'm currently converting my shed into a fish room as my house simply doesn't have the space.

Spent the last two weeks on and off around work and 4 kids and this is the progress so far.

Still got the power to be terminated, plastering/painting, air con to be installed and flooring to be sealed and then I can move in the racks approximate tank count 31 not including the planned 6x 6ft tanks.

Going to be a busy month.
