Hang-On Breeder Box Filter.

17 June 2014 - 01:03 PM

Hi guys,

I had a thought a couple of days ago when placing BN fry in one of the hang-on external airdriven breeder boxes, basically I thought if you were to pack one full of filter media (using the dividers to separate different media) and run a small power head on the intake you would basically have a cheap and fairly large capacity HOB filter.

Just a thought.

Thanks.

Any High Quality Borleyi Around In Perth?

15 June 2014 - 11:48 AM

Hi guys,

I am interested in started up a colony of some good quality borleyi but don't feel like going through the hassle and cost of getting them shipped, so I was just curious if anyone knew of any shops or breeders selling some Borleyi with solid red colouring.

Thanks in advance,

Jackmack

Fish Room Journal.

18 May 2014 - 03:09 PM

Hi guys,

I have been keeping fish on and off since I was 5 years old and have only recently found my passion for keeping, breeding and raising tropical fish. I figure that I owe you lot something for all of the advice you guys have given me since joining the forum - So here it is, my fish room.

My fish room is nearing completion so I thought I'd do a photo journal of both the room itself and the inhabitants of each tank.

Currently the room is still a mess and I am yet to fill some of the last tanks but bear with me until I've gotten it tidy enough to photograph and feel free to give me tips as to how I can do things better.

So far I have the following tanks:

1. 4ft two tier
2. 3ft two tier
3. 3ft two tier
4. 2ft two tier
5. 4x2 two tier
6. 40cm cube x2 (Putting both on one stand and plumbing them to a sump).

So far I have the following livestock:
1. Colony of 5 Long fin Albino bristlenose.
2. Colony of Peppermints (4 mature and 11 sub adults)
3. Pair of shortfin calico bristlenose.
4. Pair of shortfin Albino bristlenose.
5. Four young L397s (Will have 8 when Holmzy has more)
6. Colony of 10 or so Electric Yellows.
7. Colony of Brichardi Kiku.
8. Colony of N. Leleupi.
9.Had 4 Rio Branco Geophagus to breed but am down to 2 due to a bastard of a dom male.

What I am yet to buy (If you have any of the following for sale, let me know):

1.40L/pm Air pump
2. Additional sponges to run every tank.
3. A roll of the softer type of air line.
4. Egg tumblers.
5. A small electric heater to keep temps up in winter.

My main plan is to breed and sell L numbers until I can afford a wider variety of L number plecos, and vice versa with tanganyikans and high quality africans.

Any advice is much appareciated.

Fish Shop Cnr Of Scarborough Bch Rd And Charles St

18 April 2014 - 09:40 PM

Anyone been to the fish shop on the corner of Scarborough and charles before it closed years ago?

I got my first tank and fish there as a kid and remember it to be quite a cool shop, just wondering if anyone know why it closed? Was rumoured to reopen but never did.

Geophagus Rio Branco

30 March 2014 - 09:21 PM

Hi guys,

Hopefully picking up some Rio Brancos sometime soon,
I am set to get 3x around 10cm and they are going into a 4ft that I plan to have a single arch of driftwood in in which I will grow java fern and anubias etc on so I can have some greenery that the Rios wont rip out whilst sifting.
I was just wondering if anyone had any tips as to what to feed them, flow rate, decor etc
Any advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jackson.
