ekOygoYT7M1asFL3i1VETYRAKFCQmOwL9HUvYqjj Anybody know where to get 3 of these, and has anyone ever kept them? Thinking about around 3 to go with my Coal Grunter, Butis Butis and Tandanus? Would that be an ok mix? If they're too expensive or I simply can't get them, would 3 Bar Tail Grunters be ok?

They're pretty small for grunters but typically aggressive. A mate of mine kept them for a while up north. You probably wont find them but if you do they will most likely be quite small. Being a grunter the similarities to your coal grunter might make it a target.

So, Grunters don't like other Grunters? No point trying Bar-Tails?

Most Grunters don't like direct competitors. There are exceptions there's a bunch of different grunters out there some of them very different and there are methods to reduce aggression... Same as cichlids.

Barred Grunters are omnivores and will probably have a crack at your plants too though.

Damn. No Barred Grunters then, might give the Bar Tail Grunters a try at some point though. Would w/c from the Swan treated with a couple of meds be ok? Or would it be better to get them from AI?

Dunno, what species are you referring to?

Only grunters I know of in the Swan are marine/estuarine and certainly not recommended for FW tanks.

The small yellow tail trumpeter/grunter from Moore River will do fresh water.

Yep yellowtail trumpeter,, Moore river is flat out with them.
I can't see why the swan river ones wouldn't be ok in in fresh.
These trumps are by the thousands in fresh parts of the Moore and in the isolated cut off parts of the Murchison.
I've kept these specimens over 20 years ago in fresh water tanks for over 2 years together with black bream.

In the aquarium industry,, what they call trigger fish is actually called in fisherman terms a leather jacket.
So names vary in different games.
