Hey all just wondering if my Eureka's 1st born son will ever turn out as good as him.
I love the fathers colour heaps (the son is about 18 months old id say).

Yeah I would highly suspect it was crossed with A. sp. "Stuartgranti Maleri".

Something looks strange about the father too, although his colours are nice.

The father looks great, spot on for a Eureka

The son however looks great but it definately isnt a pure Eureka. I suspect your females may be "Maleri Islands" but you will never know for sure.

The father looks almost...bent? Sunken belly and crooked looking lateral lines. He could have a recessive gene or something?

Here is the pic, the father has so much more blue colour in his face. Does the loss of that just happen with age or ?

The amount of blue colour on his head, if you compare the pic above to a pic i got last night below.
You can easily tell theres alot less blue. Probs about a 2 year gap in between the pics.
Although its like the blue that was on his head has transferred to the rest of him, it looks killer in person!!

I think the female is Aulonocara baenschi - Benga peacock
the blue only comes to under the eye but on Maleri the blue is over the eye
the only Jacob trait it shows is the widened dorsal margin at the back of the dorsal
and the touch of white on the top of the tail

all in all your Jacobfreibergi male (Eureka Red) is breeding with the wrong female
if that is the progeny ............ sorry

you need to match the Jacofreibergi taxonomy to the female to see how she measures up
or as suggested feed her white crane or similar food so she shows the male traits of her species

Yea i get wat ya saying. I have a m8 who has sum Eureka Reds and his babies started off yellow like mine but then changed to the orange/red,
so i sorta guessed sumthin was up wen mine didnt. As i said bak up in this thread this particular female is no longer with us. I have since
matched him with the correct partners, this was just to make sure wink.gif

Thanks all
