Hello all again

So im getting 2 different stories, 1 fish shop tells me i can use straight water out of the tap and as long as i put some water conditioner to remove the chlorine i dont need to do any thing else if i do it this way PH = 7.5 and GH and KH is 0.

Another guy tells me i need to adjust PH to about 8.2 GH about 18 and i cant remember what the KH should be.

So my question is who is correct ?

If i can use straight tap water and just remove the chlorine this would be very easy and quick but will it have a negative effect on the fish?

Thanks again for any advice

i only "Prime" my water after a water change and im keeping malawi's. I used to adjust ph to 8-8.2 but i forgot to do it one week and then just didnt do it anymore and they all seem fine and the ph is just about neutral.

just use tap water and treat with conditioner as you fill the tank. just remember to turn the water on outside and run the hose for a good couple of minute or more to get rid of any nasties in the water.

In this case yes. The question was weather anything other then water conditioner is needed given the set parameters given. And the answer is as most have said that the water will be fine.

Thanks for the replies everyone

Looks like i will be using straight tap water and only adding water conditioner

So can i ask why do most people or it seems most people adjust PH to above 8 and increase water hardness Gh and KH when as advised it doesnt seem necesary ?

Thanks again

Some fish are more sensitive, and when breeding it helps to "set the mood".

You will probably find if the fish are locally sourced they have been bread in local water. A lot of people read too much into articles on the net as to what the recommended water specs are, but fail to realise a lot of these fish are so far removed from the water body there original descendants came from that the fish have adapted.
