Darn you and your sarcasm! Or was that an unintentional typo?

I love saying that tangs are more interesting than malawis. You usually get a few people that like malawis upset by that comment, followed by a "whitebait" comment.

But hey, we're all different, and if keeping a blue or yellow fish that just eats and roots all day long is your thing, then by all means go for malawis.

Loved what Willem Heijns said about Malawi cichlids

:P

I'll add another photo of the sword flower some time soon as well. It's growing pretty fast, so must be happy in the aquarium.

Check out how big the coffeefolia plant is now!!!

I think this plant is growing straight up to try and send a flower above the water line. Decent rhizome on it too.

Just a few drops of Dino pee with water changes. I have co2 on this tank which helps a lot.

Injected CO2 - great invention! Wonder who thought of it first.

Yep co2 is good stuff. It comes out the spray bar at the other side of the tank (6x2x2) but it still does a great job

That's still impressive. Good flow through tank I'd imagine. Doubling CO2 has made such a difference here.

I'm scared to use C02, but jase that coffefolia is doing really well. It's amazing how Anubias adapts to different conditions and growth rates

Craig - flow is actually pretty crap in that tank to be honest with you. I can't run a powerhead or internal filter as it creates noise at night. Any noise keeps me awake at night, as I am a very light sleeper.
Jules - you're welcome to come over and have a look some time. I've got an exciting new Anubias Nana idea under way at the moment. If it works, I'll be able to get the Anubias growing faster than what it normally does. I've been experimenting with Anubias Barteri rhizomes too. Man I'm such a fish dork...........

What sort of growth rate are you getting?

Atm, I find I have 1-2 leaves a fortnight, and that's because I have recently been dosing some minor ferts. Which is also helping to kill some of the BBA on some plants ive obtained.

To give you an idea on growth, I got that Coffeefolia from Oli at about 4cm? The rhizome is now about 20cm long? Pretty sure that coffeefolia has been in the tank for 18 months. It's really taken off in the last few months. With anubias, you just have to make sure the rhizome is above the substrate, and any roots that shoot out will find their way to the substrate. Keep the substrate dirty where the anubias roots go in to the substrate, and you get good growth. This coffeefolia didn't grow much at all for the first 9-12 months. Once it's established though, it grows like mad. That's the principle I'm using to try and grow Anubias nana in a smaller tank. I'll post pics once I have the opportunity to show what I mean.

Out of interest, what ferts are you using?

yes all my anubias does this, and I leave it in the sand, nutrient rich sand bed where nitrogenous waste builds acts a food source I believe.

just seachem flourish, I do bi weekly water changes in that tank and dose it every 2nd water change at the standard dose rate.

That's the funny thing with plants. What works for one type of plant doesn't work for another. Take as an example java fern. You can put java fern on to a bit of driftwood, use no fertiliser, and just have it sitting in a fish tank with next to no water changes and that plant will flourish, even under a single t8 light. Do that with anubias and you'll just end up with a sad looking plant that is covered in BBA.

Bolbitis got a good trim yesterday, and is pearling today:

Stems I got from pcs auction now pearling:

You may see some GSA in the background in some of the photos. I've been fighting a losing battle with it at the moment. I have the day off work tomorrow, so will spend some time on the tanks giving them a good clean.

Whoo-hoo! Love the flowers.

What's your setup for lighting, ferts, equipment, etc for these again?

Lighting is 2 x 5 foot ISTA led light units
Fert is a bit of Dino Pee with each water change (usually every couple of weeks)
Got an inline co2 system too, which obviously helps

Flower in the coffeefolia has opened up today. Check this out:

I've got plenty of Anubias nana and Anubias barteri, but this is my only bit of coffeefolia. Awesome plant. Hopefully I'll pick some more up in the future.
