#364420 Fish Room Insulation For Perth Weather

Posted by Stretch on 17 December 2017 - 09:30 PM

I'm assuming you want to heat/cool the whole room rather than individual tanks? I've got a 7m x 6m wide shed that houses two large tanks. I wrapped the walls and put the wool insulation on the roof. I don't use air con and only run tank heaters for the really cold months and have never had a problem but it would be easier to heat the whole room with heaps of tanks. Good ventilation is the key for me plus the roof is 4 metres high to help with the heat. I'd hate to see your power bill if you are running a split system 24/7. Maybe get some solar panels to offset your power bill? Good luck either way, looking good so far

Haven't eaten any snails yet but I know they will eventually. Just enjoying growing them out at the moment to see which one ends up being my favourite. It used to be the sleepy cod until he ate one of my Murray cods ha ha

My 2 metre by 1 metre by 1 metre up and running. It's not fancy but it lives in my shed and was cheap. Still a work in progress but it's going well.it doesn't look it but there are 2 six foot logs in there. Looks a bit barren with no substrate but way easier to clean and there are never any food scraps

Nice photos mm. The first sooty I grabbed off you is pushing 12 cm now I reckon but the other one has hardly grown at all. Same tank, same food but the bigger one eats pellets and the little one won't touch them.coal grunter and scats still rule the tank though, until the Murray cod gets bigger anyway. What fish fillets do you use? I tried a few from the fishmonger but whitebait is the only fish I can get him to eat.Attached File  image.jpg   129.99KB   4 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   153.51KB   4 downloadsAttached File  image.jpg   136.32KB   4 downloads

Spoke to Katie from Katie's aquariums again today. Says she'd be more than happy to send a big order for you guys. Even seemed excited about the business.

I ordered a bullrout from that website. I spoke to her today after I saw you guys mention that they don't ship to Perth. She said she can ship but the risks of doa are much higher due to the extra day in transport. I'll let you know what happens next. Their guarantee is not as good as livefish. I can pick up that sooty mm85 but not till late. Have my sons footy training. Is Friday better?

I looked up that online store you posted, very cool and reasonably priced so I ordered a bullrout for myself. Much bigger than the live fish ones too. Cheers.
