Would like people's thoughts on this topic.
I have a 68Lx60Wx45H fish tank. I would like to breed fighting fish and keep L397's and corys in the tank. Couple of questions:

First is this possible?
I understand bettas need minimal water movement, preferably none to set up their nest and breed. So how would I go about keeping water well oxygenated, without creating heavy water flow, for the cory cats and plecos?
I have a canister filter which can spray water straight down just to break the tension. Is this enough?

Any help/thoughts would be great, thanks!

You could just run air, a couple of sponge filters would do filtration and keep the water well oxygenated through breaking surface tension.

bettas can still bubble nest with surface agitation. I bred betta splendens (accidently) in a small tank a few years back. Just make sure the lit fits nice and snug, as the humidity will help with the bubble nest.

You could potentially dam off a section of the surface water either to create a dead zone for the bettas to nest in, or to isolate surface agitation in one area by having the aerator bubbles breaking the surface tension in an isolated area. I'd probably experiment by cutting up a plastic box and sitting it a few cm in the water and a few cm out (this could actually help to create a micro climate to retain extra humidity?).

Hopefully you understand what i'm trying to say, its probably not the best explanation :)

Venturi adaptor, it pumps air under the surface.

Thinking the same thing of damming off an area.

Moses,

We have a few different sized Sochting Oxydators in stock. They use a catalyst to react with a peroxide solution to diffuse oxygen into an aquarium with needing to aerate.

You can put a vigorous airstone inside a floating fry saver. Thats what I do for my hoplo breeding swamp tank :)

You can also sump the aquarium. Water falling through a trickle tower oxygenates it excellently.
