hey humbug...as always great read.

as for the plumbing into the sumps...i never really solved this issue,

i have all my breeder tanks plumped to a sump and because of the flow rate i have running most of my food ends up in the sump ...so the habit i have gotten into is i turn the pump of and feed all my none plumbed tanks first and while i am doing this the flow stops and then i feed the tanks that are plumbed...i have tried tucking sponge inside the overflow boxes but yes you are right after a while the flow slows down and the pump doesn't so the water has to go somewhere.

i will be watching your thread closely as i am also planing my fry setup to be plumbed...also i am using marinepure...but still have the sponge filters running in the breeders tanks as-well...just as a back up.

#337773 What Heater Do You Use?

Posted by silverscreen on 17 April 2015 - 04:59 PM

in my fish room i am trying a different type of heater this year...i have purchased a aquazonic titan 1500w this is in my sump heating 6x4ft tanks...what i have found is its keeping the whole room warm...so i have put in the rest of my tanks under rated heaters...mostly 3ft tanks and i am putting 55w heaters and so far so good...room is staying 27-28 and all my other tanks are doing well....touch wood....have to wait for the power bill to find out how we are realy doing.

i will add more media later ...i went with marine pure and zeolite for bio filtration and koi matting and filter socks for mechanical filtration...see how it goes.

quick water changes working a treat now...push on the 30mm hose and open the drain...it stops at the height of the drain pipe (50% of the tank) bought a 15 metre rubber hose

water changes takes 45 minutes.

The Phenochilus Tanzania looks amazing...my favourite fish right now...just picked up 4 very nice males a couple of days ago...i think every display tank should have a couple of them.
