Neosilurus Sp, both my ater and hyrtlii are out and about all the damn time and never seem to sleep.

Depends on the tank though, whats the water parameters? Synodontis are another option.

Hi Ice - Only know temp = 28c - never test anything - been doing 20% water change a week for about 30 years - works for me - never seen those cats before - are they hard to find - the second one looks like some sort of Tandanas.............

They are native northern eeltail catfish. Aters come up now and then but hyrtlii are a bit more difficult. I know livefish have had both in the past so Id start there. If you dont have any luck try aquagreen in Darwin. He collects from the wild and can get most of the northern native species :)

Salmontail catfish ive found to always be quite active - not as much when larger though.

The driftwood catfish that has become readily available is another one always out and about, and quite a funny looking bugger.

Upside down cats and other synodontis species that Ice mentioned.

All depends on tank size and what else there going with.

In my display tank I have 3 different synodontis
I have 10 nigriventris, 2 Polli, and another 2 which were labelled as ilebrevis (or something like that)
I found the nigriventris to be SUPER active during the day for about a year? But as they got larger they only come out at night or when it's time to eat. The other 2 synos are always cruising around the tank and look happy enough
