#351185 Pcs Sponsor Bus Tour - Round 2

Posted by Rovik on 11 April 2016 - 12:01 PM

A Massive thank you to our participating sponsors; Fishroom, Aquarium Gallery Perth and Rob's Aquariums for supporting this event and of course Andrew (AKA androo) who donated his time to drive us around all day.

As usual our sponsors impressed. Chris from the fishroom had some awesome oddballs instore and a great range of well priced products. Aquarium gallery always impressed with their dynamic displays, every time I visit, there are always new and interesting displays. Also of noteworthy mention is their extensive range of new, rare and exotic plants. Definitely worth a look if your after something different for your planted aquarium.

Lastly Rob's had some fantastic quality discus in-store at bargain prices with some more on the way. Everything from small tackers to breeding pairs the size of a dinner plate.

Lastly, thanks to all those who attended, we hope you enjoyed the day. Great to see a lot of new faces.

#349244 Neosilurus Got Nearly Skinned Overnight

Posted by Rovik on 30 January 2016 - 06:45 PM

Fish can recover from worse, as long as you provide good conditions so that the wounds do not suffer from secondary bacterial or fungal infection you should be OK.

Isolation tank would be best using a cycled filter if you have one available. If not, just partition the tank off asap - I would still suggest you dose with something but my suggestions may vary depending if you have live plants in the aquarium.

Dose with a General salt mix to start with as a mild preventative for bacterial and fungal infection (You could also use melafix/primafix)

Some catfishes can be sensitive to "General cure" mixes and it is generally recommended using a half dose for these medications containing methylene blue, formalin acriflavine ect

#346851 Pre Christmas Event: A Great Day.

Posted by Rovik on 16 November 2015 - 10:28 AM

Hey guys, I though I would share some photos taken at AGP's free Pre X-mas event which included an awesome social day, great food, drinks, massive aquascaping competition and world class aquascaping demonstration by Australian Aquascaping Champ Micheal.N. The aquascaping competition saw 16 contestants face off one another in a 30 minute battle to achieve artistic perfection with their iwagumi rock layout. I think both Mike, myself and the other contestants had a blast creating our layouts.

Getting some inspiration before the competition started:

IMG_1170_zpsuhlcnd0n.jpg

IMG_1172_zpsblyvicoh.jpg

The aquascaping "dojo", contestants had the choice between classic iwagumi rock or the golden pagoda

IMG_1173_zps6kbsht43.jpg

Next up was the demonstration by Australian Aquascaping Champ Micheal.N, showing us how it's done.

Put the theory into practice:

IMG_1188_zps2xmfopgf.jpg

And the winner is:

IMG_1190_zpsxaqclqyi.jpg

IMG_1189_zps4a6exfqj.jpg

A worthy winner. Bruce's scape looked even better in person.

Everyone was a winner, all the contestants got to take home there creation and watch it grow and fill out.

A missive :ThanxSmiley:  to the AGP team for putting on such a great event.

For those who missed out, don't worry, AGP generally have events throughout the year. I would highly recommend everyone get down and enjoy a great day.
