Thanks Ray. I got some more pics here to share that I took a couple of days ago.

I love my calvus

my pleco that keeps getting bashed

frontosa, absolutely beautiful fish. They seem less nervous since I decreased the amount of lighting

my juli reganis. love the blue on the fins. these guys look like they wanna breed

and the leleupi. as I said in previous posts, the yellow in these guys contrast well with the frontosa

I'm hiding

And still hiding

See what I mean with the leleupi and frontosa. the colours are nice

And the paracyprichromis nigripinnis. I got 2 of these. Good fish to have in a community tank, as they are always cruising around the top of the tank. Definately makes the other fish less nervous

I picked up a new shego air pump on saturday, and put that in today along with a new air line and air stone. I also installed my new Sicce wavemaker that I bought a week or 2 back. I cant seem to get it to rotate though. When I bought the new air pump, the mrs and kid were checking out the new cichlid display tank (used to be a tankbuster display tank) and as my little girl took a liking to the mdoka white lip and electric yellows, I bought some of them to put in the tank too. Nice colours, and they love swimming around the front of the tank. Here are some pics
I got 3 electric yellows

the mdoka white lips are very active, and extremely hard to photograph

once again, hard to photograph the mdoka

the new fish seem to have settled in well

and I'll finish off with a pic of my leleupi. See the difference in colour to the Electric Yellow in the background

The leleupi keep doing a dance, where they circle each other and shiver. Maybe they trying to spawn?

yep they are. in my aquarium they cruised around in the open. i sold my nigripinnis, leleupi, and daffodil princesses. I've also changed the look of the tank. I had some big pipe ornaments behind the river stones to keep the frontosa happy, but it looked ugly. This is what the tank looked like on friday night:

i pulled all the rocks and ornaments out

and then a couple of hours later, it now looks like this:

I like this look a lot more

Looks good with the limestone. Let me know if you need more to fill the gaps.

Good point ray. I went to a sponsor store today to look at the jewel 3D backgrounds after seeing pics of Rovik's shrimp tank. Not sure if I can afford a nice background yet, plus I don't really want to muck around putting one in when the tank is up and running. May be a bit too fiddley.
I will definitely be looking for more big display pieces of limestone to fill the right side dazza. A good friend gave me all the bits at the front of the tank, and more.

Cheers

So I was at Jason's the other day and I took it on myself to snap some shots of his tank and fish.

Baenschi

Modoka

Julie

Monstrous Yoyo

Uncooperative Luanda

Unfeasibly fat dragon blood

Bad shot of tank

Lots of other nice fish in there, but light and fish did not cooperate.

Thanks mate. I'm happy with it. I did a 50% w/c tonight and deciced to put more limestone in my tank. I'm going to get more limestone later on, as I want to add some more mbunas

Yeah more limestone would look good, you still have plenty of room for more and the mbuna will enjoy all the caves/holes.

What species you thinking of?

Very pretty the Demasoni, also very aggressive so more rock the better smile.gif

There is another fish who is almost a dead ringer for a Demasoni but less aggressive, wouldn't know if they are available here tho

Metriaclima sp. "dolphin" (Ndonga), according to cichlid profiles they used to go by the name Pseudotropheus sp. "Blue Dolphin".

Catch is they do get a lot bigger!

Here is the link anyway: http://www.cichlid-f...ies.php?id=2605

They're cool. Called the giant demasoni. I will look in to them more. If you know any local demasoni breeders, let me know

Unfortunately their last couple of bars fade away to nothing, so i still like the Demasoni better. There aggressiveness you learn to work with it, 1 male to multiple females and lots of rock (you can never have to much rock work for Mbuna's). Feed as you would Tropheus, in fact these two would make good companions. Each to there own i guess cheers.gif
