Really nice man! I'm keen to add a bit more of that golden Viney driftwood up the back right hand corner of my tank. Some of that in there suspended from the top would look rad as well!

What kind of pup have you got? They are addictive. Can't wait til mine are all big enough to go in the display.

David K is selling some nice gold vine.

He posted about the "little" 5x2x2.

Grab the 6500k unit and through in an actinic fluro.

That makes your fish colors truly pop.

Use laundry bag from Bunnings.

Like the underwear or bra bags that you use to wash them in.

Cheap as.

#314266 Easiest Way To Waterchange?

Posted by kassysimon on 29 April 2014 - 08:38 PM

Just as has been said above there are alot of different ways.

Although automatic water changes arent very efficient on a 2ft tank here is my two bob. Not saying that you shouldnt have an AWC though. Just food for thought.

I do a 50% water change every week on a 10ft tank (438 litres per water change) without lifting a finger.

My tank is connected to mains pressure and an external drain which connects to a soakwell.

I have a Profilux aquarium computer that allows the water changes to be done at a given time.

At the preset time the filters, heaters and CO2 turn off and the drain function begins, a sensor at the lowest level stops the drain function which closes the solenoid and starts the fill function. Another sensor stops the fill function once the correct water level has been reached. This works as an auto top-off too.

Then another function doses a dechlorinator once the water change is complete.

Couldnt be easier.

Mains pressure connections can be retro fitted in most cases but the hardest part is the drainage. Your set if your tank is on a cavity wall . All connections can go through the wall. Then a couple of digital timers and your set.

Con. They're heavy.

Pro. They're light when you remove the water.

#288644 My 10X2X2 Planted

Posted by kassysimon on 08 July 2013 - 09:30 PM

Hi all.

Im in the process of pulling this down and thought id share a few pics before i do.

Alot of guys helped me out with planning the full auto system and i have never posted any pics....so here they are.

Before and after shots with a few close ups.

I started this off with absolutely no planted tank experience at all.

Lighting was a challenge and started with T5's, T5's + LED's and then moved on to LED's only.

Pressurised CO2 and using the EI method to fertilise.

Thanks for all your input and i guess ill soon be asking more questions once this is an African tank (possibly planted too)

Thanks again.

Sometimes it's the only way to get pics of skittish fish,,, it can take fore ever just to get a half decent shot in the tank.

Try using a tripod and a remote release. You can tether your camera to Adobe Lightroom and use it as a remote viewer too so that way the fish will never see you.
