hi there

been lurking on here for a few months.

thought i'd just say hi

i'm not really into cichlids but i have goldfish instead :)

just wanted to know where i can catch some daphnia?

i have tried the pond in Piney Lakes (winthrop) but with no luck.

well i dont think so.. but to honest i'm not 100% sure what i'm suppose to be looking for! i'm expecting something quite small?

any advice is welcome

chocky

Hello Chocky,

Welcome to the forum, there are actually a couple on here who have varieties of Goldfish and not just the simple ones from the shops but really cool looking ones too.

We love fish in general, so post your photos please.

No idea where to get the Daphnia though.

Regards,

MLB

Hello & welcome :) as MLB said please show us some pics :) haha

As for daphnia they are only like 2mm-5mm so would be very hard if even possible to catch / spot them lol :)

i wouldnt bring home anything live taken from a pond - not worth the risk of introducing disease/parasites that might wipe out your tank

Nice! Is that a shubunkin? I used to collect gambusia for live feeders, if you use a parasite medication in the tank for 3 days you should be right, I've never had disease from any live fish I've used as feeders :)

Yup its a calico ranchu :) i really like the nacreous scale type and the blue hues of this fish, so i'm hoping to produce some offsprings that have this. i have a batch but they are yet to colour up :)

Very nice! I haven't kept goldfish for over 15 years but I really like some of the more intersting varietys, I quite like the pearl scales and red cap orandas, do you keep other varieties?

Rigs :)

I have two telescope butterflies. One I got from city farmers which I managed to fatten up and another panda from aquotix but he's decolouring (black is the least stable colour).

Shame that goldfish are not as popular in Perth. The ones u see in pet stores are really under fed but they do flourish when given a good diet etc :)

That's true, although I did find a couple of places with a few nice goldfish :) I saw a couple of Panda fantails, red cap orandas and ryukins on my travels today :)
