i got a call from a mate who told me that my best mate's son had hung himself that night... only 21 years of age....
when we were teenagers driving around in fast hotted up cars my mate knocked up this lovely blonde girl - who we both wanted - but as luck has it he got her and a few weeks later i nailed her best friend but i didnt load the oven!!!

anyway 9 mths later they had a beautiful son and stayed together making a lovely young couple...
one day at 2 1/2 years of age dad went to the bottle-o to grab some coolies leaving me and another mate to look after his son for 10 mins... we convinced him to go and hug dad when he got home and then punch him in the goolies... (things you do when your young!!)
dad got home got a quick hug then fell to his knees from a brutal uppercut from his son... but he never spilt the beers!!! it was one of them moments i will remember forever....

rip.gif young fella....

SSorry to hear that Johnno. I know how it feels to lose someone close to you from suicide. It sucks. Chin up and try your best for your mate.

My cousin hung himself suffered from major depression had hit the drugs pretty bad we all stuck by him and helped him get out of the addiction that we could see taking over his life , he eventually slowed the addiction down met a girl had a daughter and things looked like they were heading in a very positive forward motion few years after his daughter was born he hit a low bak on the drugs and split with the missus and few months after got a phone call with the bad news the first thing I did was lock myself in the car with the stereo as loud as It could go played metallica - one over and over , remember these friends mates and family for the good times

So sad. For the young bloke to think that was his best/only option is heart breaking. Really feel for the family.

there were no drugs involved - maybe that makes it worse... some booze (i suppose its a drug too)... but he never gave any warning or asked for help or even indicated he could take his own life...

16-25 year old males are in the highest suicide bracket... but it was still a huge shock... its gonna be a massive funeral next week...

another great moment when he was about 4 years old... in back yard he steps backwards on a rake and it comes up and hits him in the back of the head... he steps forward and the rake falls back down. then he looks around and says who hit me...who hit me.... gee we were all rolling around laughing....

That sux Johnno, hopefully the family of the deceased find a few memories (like yours) to smile about. Its always good after the send off to try and remember the things that put a smile on your face if that makes sense. Devastating for family and close friends at the time, but time will heal and having a laugh (usually accompanied by a few too many beers) is a good kickstart to the healing process.
You just never know when somebody is really suffering to the point where they think it is better option to take there life.
By the time anyone realises it is too late.
All the best
