I think any live import has to be at least inspected by quarantine

Hey

You need to call quarantine and arrange an officer to inspect the fish before you can pick it up.

You cannot import from over state:

*Gouramis
*Pest fish: Gambusia tilapia

and

*Plants
*snails

I buy alot from a place over east that mails fish to your door, and i was planing on getting some gouramis but there was a change in the WA laws.

So as long as your not importing the above your fine biggrin.gif

Best advice is the Private message, email or phone up steve and ask him yourself.

I don't think it is right for us to be having a guess at how he does it. (unless you truly know).

I can give you the Website for the online fish store, postage is only $11.50 no matter how big or how small you order. They have a good selection on Catfish, Cichlids, Natives and alot of tropicals.

Just Pm me and ill Pm the address because it is a non sponsored website.

Correct me if im wrong, but this is what i understood of importing arowana.

It is illegal to import the fish from other countries, but once they are in Australia, they can be shipped throughout Australia.

Just my understanding of the matter, but someone else may have a better idea than me,

I have been led to believe what Craig has said also, once it is here, it can be transported throughout Aus.

like its been said once the fish is here it can be sent any place in aus. as long as it isnt on the noxious list for the state its fine.
and if you do get fish over make sure they dont get any gravel/plant matter or snails in the bag, as the whole bag will be destroyed including the fish.

Most fish can be transported around Aus, Wa has strict laws reguarding translocation of some natives, if you don't get a permit you can't do it.
All fish entering WA have to be checked by Quarantine, try to organise arrival during working hours or you will be charged a callout fee. Its very easy to bring fish into WA if you follow the rules, ask Quarantine 93341802.
I was not aware that there is on online store in the Eastern states sending fish to your door, now that it has been mentioned here it will be stopped by Quarantine or fisheries
Cheers Terry

you dont need a permit, you just have to find one, quarantine will inspect it but only look for plants and forign matter.
ive never actally bought one, though ive been offered heaps.
nic - you can get all gouramis into wa perfectly legal.

FISH THAT ARENT PROGONY OF AUSTRALIA CAN BE CONFISCATED AND DESTROYED - no questions asked remember that
