So I have bought a 4 foot tank and it came with this filter

Its quite large do you think it could filter a tank of about 10 jumbo cyprichromis and 5 paracyprichromis?

How big is the 4 foot? What's the media in the filter like?
I have a couple of 4x1.5x1.5s and they both have 1,000l/h filters on them. Never had a problem but I wouldn't want to run less than 1,000l/h.

I ran that same filter on a 150litre 3 ft and it was fine for about 6 months then it wouldn't stop leaking even after I replaced all the seals.. Had another i used on a 250litre 6ft.. Couldn't handle it at all.. Not enough flow for large tanks, seals went after 3months.. I personally wouldn't use it in a house unless you keep it permanently in a bucket.. Cheap filters .. Average results.. Stick to the brand name canister ;) eheim, fluval, Aquaone, just to name a few .. Very reliable and not often have issues

Ok new filter but would 800 liters per hour be ok for 10 cyprichromis and 5 paracyprichromis?

It's the tank volume that matters more than the number of fish. A good rule of thumb is the filter should turn over the volume 4 times per hour. So your filter that does 800 litres per hour is suitable for up to a 200 litre tank

Its around 250 liters just wondering how many frontosa could I get with 10 jumbo cyprichromis and 5 paracyprichromis! I'll get a 1500lph if I can just to be a little by more!

Frontosa+10 jumbo cyprichromis and 5 Paracypchromis all in a 4ft..... You'd be best looking at getting a 6x2x2 for that, and a 2000lph/2500lph canister filter, they'd be extremely crammed and under filtered in a 4ft! Jumbos get around 15cm and fronties around 20/25cm...

i was going to keep the fronties, but it's 10 para's and 10 livua I asked the breeder and she said that she had around those numbers plus gobies shellies and some others!
I'm looking for a 1500l/h filter the tank is 265L so I think even a little over filtration won't hurt! What brand and what would the filter be called (external canister) thanks!

No offence but how is 5 times an hour overfilltration? All my tanks are 8-10x-hour as the more times you turn over a tank the better, obviously not a 2000lph filter in a 20l, but you get what I mean

5x the total water volume per hour is reasonable, the point to the 4x per hour rule is to maintain the correct contact time with your media. This becomes an issue with sumps but not really applicable for canisters as they do a set flow rate and recommend the right size, lt/hr canister for your tank :)

Yeah sorry, you guys said 4 I went 5 that is over over the recommendations of 4 so it is over filtration! I'm going for 10 cyprichromis livua and 5 paracyprichromis for now might add something else once they settle in! Would this rock scape work? afac806a31ed734c67bfa10aab127c79.jpg
