Hi there,

A question for the breeding experts, especially guppies... Another batch of guppy frys were born today...

So the question is whether it is possible to put the new frys in with another batch of frys that were born about 13 days ago... The new batch are smaller than the old batch, but I don't think they would fit into the mouth of the older batch... I could be wrong...

Any advice.... running out of temporary tank and aeration...

I was given about 10 guppies two years ago. Put them in a tank with lots of vallis, no airpump/filter or anything & forgot about them all summer. I now have a hundred guppies & I feed a net full to my cichlids every so often.. They will b fine to mix together, unless u are trying to line breed certain colours. Guppies of all sizes mix together fine, a few plants help.

hey mate a good idea would be to put tubing for a aitr pump in there, cut it up into 2cm peices chuck lots in, and get some java moss good stuff that, put a old filter in leave them for well ages like the post above, and you will have millions.
p.s your barra would love a few wink.gif

Good idea... I will work on the air tubing hide-outs...

Well nah... Barra are fussy eaters, I don't think I will introduce them to live feeds once they have been on the pellets... They may decide that they only want live feed and could be a week off food before accepting pellets again... lost time for growth...

yet community and planted section seems more appropriate as they are both a community fish and preffer a planted tank.

if i am incorrect please tell me but does that mean goldfish go in this section too?

to have guppies in the same realm as bass, bara, pacu and gg ect just seems stupid, but then again i could sell hybrid guppies/discus/angel fish on this forum but not others like flowerhorns?

maybe to bring the pcs into 2010 the forum topics could include livebearers, hybrids, carp/koi/golfish and other specific genres instead of trying to pigeon hole a bunch of fish into the one topic, ie like monster fish keepers.
Reason for edit: Moved thread to correct section. Will have a look at improving descriptions - Dazza

I agree, the descriptions are a little vague and are open to interpritation. Especially evident by how long this thread stayed in the apparent "incorrect" section.

cheers dazz cheers.gif
dont want to be anal about it all but with the ever expanding interest in differant types of fish it makes sense to be specific on what goes where as to avoid confusion for newer people or to make it easier for hobbyists to expand their fish keeping knowledge smile.gif

and to add a differant point of view on the actual post subject, i find that having heaps of java or christmas moss helps the little ones survive till they can swim with the big boys as it gives them a good hiding spot and also the food that gets caught in there is easier for them to eat as they dont have to venture out and risk getting eaten themselves cool.gif
