Looks like a Tandanus tandanus. Great native fish, I've got 2 in the pond that are so well camouflaged it takes me at least 5 minutes to spot one. I recommend a large aquarium (#catchphrase), as they grow to almost a meter in the wild.

They go well in cold water... they slow up over winter in cold water but they go ok.
Yep my photo is the common 'ol Tandanus tandanus. There are arguably better species of eeltails to keep but they are hard to get hold of.
Native Fish are truly the most amazing group of fish ive ever kept! Love them!!!

I spotted mine while at Aquotix a couple of months ago, down the back section near the ponds looking at marginal plants. They were about $25-30 if I remember right. Seeing as they were kept with the cold water species, I asked if they' be okay in an outdoor pond, and was told that as long as the pond is deep enough to avoid large temperature swings they are fine. I had one indoors that grew to over a foot years ago and loved it, even though it ate plenty of my schooling fish.

What the hell are they aquacouple? beautiful looking fish in this thread... So much jealousy from one thread. Makes me feel sad for my 70 longfin bristlenose fry :-)
