Hows the tank going now? Wjere did you get your nems id love one
Cheers for the comments guys! Yes! The tank is now picking up and looking much more healthy.
The 'Nems' are Blue Tipped Anemones that I got from Vebas. Actaully I only bought one, but the Anemone split into two!
Anyway, the bigger one is looking like it will split again and when it does, the bio-load on the tank will be too much, so I am planning to probably give Dazzab and Red Devils one each as they have been so nice and interested in my progress.
Some of the recent things I learnt about my Nano:
- There was this wooden airstone thingy in the Protien Skimmer which had needed to be replaced, it had become blocked, I didn't realise how important it was to be freely working. I should have replaced it before the Holiday
- Also the Ocean Free filter is made of three parts, rock noodle things, sponge and a carbon bag. After having the tank running for 6 months I finally realised that that the carbon is probably activated carbon which needs to be replaced regularly. So I bought some new carbon, tank is running better.
- Definetly needs WC weekly, now that the tank is quite a bit more mature 1 week is maximum (it gets like a brown scum on the top of the water, indicating a definite WC required)
- I tested to see if the tank could handle 2 week WCs which appeared to be fine, but now definetly not.
- I have been taking water down to LFS for testing quite regually as they can test for more things than me
- My tank appears to be at it's max Bio-load
- As I use the LFS water, I never add water conditioner.
Regards,
MrLeifBeaver
In regards to running a Nano, it's similar to a Discus tank, if you can run one of them, then a Nano is close to it (A little harder). Yes, it's more work than usaul, but it's so rewarding.
I find that you are willing and happy to maintaining the tank as you know that it going give back with so much interest.
