Doest matter what food goes in, I dont heat the water, in the tank you can maintain optimum temps!
But I'll play along.
Atleast I'll have 50 fish so can pick the biggest

i'll only be letting the tank temp vary to room temperature... i dont heat any tanks unless i have to....
do you reckon males or females will grow bigger given identical conditions ???

Fish should be arriving by the weekend.
Outdoor pond with numbers vs. temperature controlled aquarium with limited numbers.
Aquaponics vs. aquariums.
Aquaculture $3/kg food vs. aquarium food vs. whatever you feed!
My fish keeping vs. your fish keeping.
Committee member vs. club member vs. forum member.
2m Diameter round tank vs. 8ft aquarium vs. 4ft aquarium
Whatever the comp, I don't care
Let's have some fun
Who is up for a challenge?!
Andrew

Around 5 or so cm and these guys smash the pellets and frozen brine shrimp. I've got 3 growing out in the planted catfish (plecos and b/n) and 7 growing out in the geo tank (until the geos sell). The planted tank ones are fat as and will need to be netted out before summer I'm guessing, the geo tank ones not so fat but do have to compete with the geos for food. I'm very much looking forward to when I have to move them into the 6x2 and then onto the future project 2500l tank
So who got some and I'm guessing the comps on hey Andrew 😉

yeah got a few also, and am very happy with these fish. Some eating pellets easily, some not so, and this is determining growth rate of course.
A few have grown into mini monsters, and others have shown great personality, little characters. Showing up at front of tank to stare at people.
Have had no sign of cannibilism yet.......
Have no chance at comp, but happy to participate.
All the best with yours MRD, great fish.
cheers

I have a MONSTER I need to sell, twice the size of the others and happily feeding of his mates, so if anyone wants just one and a good chance of winning, let me know!
I am selling off the bigger ones to give the smaller ones a chance. And all of them are happily taking pellets now.

Check out these guys.
Not bad growth considering they were 3cm in late November
Sorry about the pic quality, all taken on my camera phone.
Cheers
