Need to be careful doing that, I have had the wash of the ferry combine with swell a couple of times and create some pretty serious mountains of water. Had me looking straight up at the sky in a 6.5m boat.

 

It is hard work keeping up with the rotto ferry these days (mainly on bad days), the catching up to them is the rough bit. Those boys boot it pretty hard. I used to struggle badly in my old boat which was a 6.5m glass boat with a suzuki 175 4 stroke on the back.

It's mainly leaving,,, in the jelly brain you still know it's serious, rocks and so on,,,,, the ferry to the last marker and your safe,,, then heading back for the freo boat ramp, only to find yourself at Hillarys,,,, lol.

we have no problem keeping up with the rotto ferry... 21 ft fibreglass boat with v8 300hp johnson on the back

had the motor originally on signature haines hunter 2100s and it was one of the quickest boats on the water... i must dig out some pics and scan them.... we made the paper one afternoon after a few beers... we decided it would be cool to go flatout over the ferry wash as we reached the harbour and get some air  lucky to be alive it was pretty stupid - we musta been airborne for a good 4-5 seconds but we came down with a bang and somehow stayed upright and full throttle and took off like a mad man possessed... but hey you have to do some stupid stuff when you're young otherwise you have nothing to talk about when you get older

 

then after we decided speed wasnt the be all and end all and we wanted a few more comforts of life we kept the motor and got a hull made to suit... daytona surfrider style of hull... was still good for 55-60 knots flatout with the right weather.... 

 

musta done the ol ferry trick a dozen times to freo.... and hahaha yes one trip to hillarys... late night catching cab to get the effie and boat trailer from freo lol !!!!!!!

 

and now the poor boat just sits in my shed... havent been out for over 5 years... but i will one day... have to do some maintenance on motor etc before considering going out to sea....

Your right about something to talk about when you get older,,,, the stories I have gives me a very colorful past,,, lots of good continuous conversation.

hahha i have got some bewdies too.... just other night playing pool comp met a guy used to knock around with 25 years ago... and he reminded me of the night him and his mate were dragging side by side down riley road up my way in the hills... he had an xw falcon and his mate xt gt falcon... they were side by side doing close on 100 mile an hour and i decided to pass both of them half in the gravel in excess of 100 mile an hour.... absolutely @#$%ing stupid thing to do - road was hardly wide enough for 2 cars.... and if you know the road you'd be shaking your head... lucky that we all lived....

Yeah,, so amazing no one gets hurt as often as one would think taking so many chances,,, but the old rules of probability comes into play.
I got a mate that was jackal and Hyde on and off the turps,,,, the stories are never ending there.

All 12 of the gang, aged early 20's going to Lancelin always intoxicated with crazy substances lol, Old house couches just chucked in the back off 4wd hilux Utes, we'd all sit in the couches on the back of the Utes absolutely flying around, up dunes and everywhere.
On one of those trips, one of my mates on his YZ 250 dirt bike was badgering the big 4wd ocker bus (or however spelt), full of Asian tourists,, like spraying the windows and bus with dirt from wheel spin,,, the people in bus were going crazy taking pictures and loving it, then I think it went on for to long, as the bus tried to speed up and resist, my mate got more intense,, until he started doing crazy jumps in and around the bus lol,,, his last bit was flying through the air and rear tyre clipping bus,,, he hit the deck and got knocked out for about 30 seconds,,,, lol, he woke up to the tourists flashing cameras all over him, he was dazed and disoriented,, we were all pissing ourselves so hard laughing in a creepy fashion, that we spooked all the bus people and they quickly all got in the bus and took of.
Our chests hurt so hard from endured intense laughing....

Entered the Calamari Cup on the weekend with a couple of mates. 30 boats entered and it was a good day had by all. 

 

We took out the Cup with the 10 heaviest squid and also took out the heaviest individual squid. $600 in cash, some clothing and a couple vouchers, not bad for a mornings squid. Not to mention a nice feed of Calamari.

Cleaned up, 17 Pinkies between 12 of us. All on plastics bar one that was on bait. 

 

All good size fish.

Great start to the holidays! Went out in Jazz Charters today and we smashed the pinkies! Got my PB of 80cm and everyone on board bagged out by 6:30am! They gave a hell of a fight and I hooked 3 and landed 2, the 3rd one I hooked just have been a beast as it completely straightened out my hook! All caught on soft plastics! Yeeeew!

Nice work Jazz has been killing it on the inshore pinks. 

 

We head out of Rockingham yesterday, managed a mid sized dhu at 65cm and a few really nice King George Whiting around 55cm.

we headed out last week on Aussie cruises for a private charter, slow start but ended up with Keegan picking up his first big fish, an 11.7kg dhui, also scored an 82cm queenie, nice fat kg, smaller size dhui & a handful of other bits. We dropped another couple of big boys sadly. Bit of a smaller, older boat, but great hard working skipper & complete freedom for us to control the time & type of fishing (best with only 5 on board). Recommend them for a great day out.

One last fish before the ban, managed a 12.0kg Dhu (89cm). Mate also got one at 10.6kg (83cm).

 

 

Bring on summer and the mackies now.
