I hope that Diablo 3 and SC2 won't have these restrictions, it would be a shame. It's bad enough there's no LAN play for SC2.

You serious??!
SC1 rocked/conquered Korea because of the LAN/Bnet feature.. If SC2 doesn't support LAN/Bnet, then Blizzard might as well pack up shop! LOL
EDIT:
From Blizzards' FAQ:
Will we still be able to play multiplayer matches of StarCraft II with all three races?
Yes! From the beginning, StarCraft II will be a fully featured multiplayer game, and all three races will be available for competitive play.
How will the expansion sets impact multiplayer gameplay?
The expansion sets will add new content to each race for use in multiplayer matches. This could include additions such as new units, abilities, and structures, along with new maps and Battle.net updates.
Phewww!

There is already talk of how a pirated version with a network "addon" could be better than the official version.
As usual, the pirates would get a better game experience than the legit buyers, which is very sad. This is already the case with a lot of DRM-crippled games.
