I think everyone is always learning in timekeeping. If you are not you are either dead or your fish are!
I know mood, diet and lighting etc all play a part in how fish look. Since you have changed foods can you post any updated photos?A male in a breeding mood makes for a good photo.... but only if he is a cichlid.... not human!
