Nice one mate. Another teqnique that works well is using several different coloured pencils (in my case I use water based markers to sketch out the majority of my tattoo designs) to layer your drawing. Start with a light colour then work up to the darkest. I find getting a bit loose with it increases the flow of your picture so it doesn't look so stiff if you get what I mean. Here's a quick sketch from a while ago to show what I mean. null-76.jpg

Extremely old topic, but does anybody recent like to sketch, paint etc? I like to sketch but I'm not great, just do it when I'm bored. Would love to see some more fish art.

Are there any keen artists still on the forum? Sadly david dropped off the face of the earth.

Wendy (Fischie) is an artist of some accomplishment. She's had her work in exhibitions and sold quite a few pieces. She also loves painting fish and I've got an amazing piece on my wall of a leafy seadragon. She hasn't really painted for some time but I've converted our carport into a studio for her and she's finally started getting back into it.

I've been pestering her to paint some 9" x 5" sized canvas with cichlids so I can flog them at auction. The Celebrating Cichlids book I got the other night has her inspired to get cracking with it.

Edit: I'll try to put some pics up of what she's done in the past - mainly marine fish and invertebrates
