Hi all,

Im having a little trouble with some very small little snails in my Planted tank, they are decimating some of my plants. I have a few shrimp in there so want to avoid treating it with chemicals. Any recommendations for getting rid of them?

Also when vacuuming the gravel today i sucked up a very large worm, full grown earthworm size and reddish brown color, along with a few very small white worms floating around in the tank. May have come in on some plants i bought that were in soil instead of gravel Are these a problem or are they OK?

You'll never get rid of those pesky little snails unless you start again. Just remove them as you see them.
Snails and algae are two things that cause me grief when I muck around with planted tanks. Only takes one snail......

As for worms, do you feed live food in your tank?

No i don't, only Pellets and frozen blood worms at the moment.

Would adding a few Assassin snails kill the small ones? once them small ones are clear remove the assassins?

I dunno haha, just read about them some where ages ago... After a bit more reading apparently Pakistani and clown loaches love eating snails.

They do but you wont get them all. Loaches are great so are eel tail catfish.

From personal experiences in the past clown loaches and tandanus catfish are very good pest control for small snails. Note they both grow very large so be prepared for that.

Yoyo loaches are effective I've found for pond snails and don't get as big as clown loaches.

Ah, that's very useful. I wondered why they weren't seen here but are so big in the US.

I added some Rams and some YoYo loaches a few months back and they seem to be keeping on top of them. But they arent eating the shrimp that are in the tank which is good.

American cichlids eat them. Terrors, oscars, etc.

Try dwarf chain loaches. They work in my tank and dont get too big.
