i have suffered many oscar bites that have broken the skin. drawn blood and left afew cuts, scratches etc.
is there any diseases/infections that can come from bacterias from the fish or tank water etc?
everytime i'm bitten i was with soap asap to hopefully prevent any infections.

cheers mick.

you can get some but usually your immune system is easily capable of killing it off but i have heard of micobacteriosis (spelling) being passed from fish to humans

I know of 2 seperate people who have suffered from Mycobacterium marinum from handling fish. I don't know alot about it but from memory it entered through open wounds on the hands. Looked pretty nasty and took ages to clear up (years).

Thanks all for your help, guess i won't be showing my friends how oscars attack anymore lol.
It's actually abit scarey when you pay attention to some of the diseases related to fish keeping.
