Hi guys,

looking for recommended high volume air pumps. I want to run a everything in my small fish room which will eventually consist of:
6 foot tanks x 2
2.5 ft tanks x 4
3 ft tanks x 3
2 ft tanks x 7
+ a couple of air stones and tumblers.

I think something with 50 or 70l/minute will do.

Any recommendations?

Looking for value for money but nothing that is going to be super loud.
Looking to spend in the range of 150 to 200 i guess..

I've been looking at the pumps here and there are a few to choose from... I just have no idea!

Anyone have one that they recommend?

Cheers

Hi mate ,
i would spend a bit more and go the 125 ltr an hr hiblow as you will no doubt maybe want to ad tanks or what have you in the future.

personally i have my 10 tanks split into 3 air pumps incase there's a problem ,,then only have to worie about 3 tanks .

if you go the one unit it's fine just keep a back up incase it dies on you,
all the best,
Con. smile.gif

Pond one 8000 are the go. Myself riggers and big johno all use them.
I run 33 sponges off mine and still bleed off extra air.

Con, i've got a few smaller air pumps which are running the room at the moment so these should be a good back up if needed. Just that some are quite old and one is SUPER loud...

Pond One sounds like a winner.
Any ideas where can i get one of these for a good price?
Cheers

That's funny, they hate them on the byap forum.
I have always used Resun ones and never had an issue with them, never even replaced a diaphragm on one.
LP40 would be fine.
Vebas always have then in stock

They don't know a good thing when there on to it andrew smile.gif
Just think of the mass $$$$$$$$ in fish bigjohnofish trusts these pumps with.
That's a good wrap in itself.
I got mine from Aquotix as I'm sure most of you would have guessed smile.gif

Sorry, its the 4000 they hate.
Although they have been having issues with diaphragms constantly breaking.
Could be the depths involved in AP causing it.

just clean air intake filter out every 3 mths and they run fine... relatively quiet too.... i have 5 of them running and not a problem with any of them....

i think i paid around 250-270 bucks for the last one i bought.... from olley at u know where!!!! aquotix!!!!

Thanks guys

I'll lock in the Pond One then.

How often if at all do you need to replace diaphrams?

Maybe its the fact that most of the AP ones are outside or the depth they are pumping at makes too high a back pressure.
Here is a quick search I did on "pondone 8000" so it has skipped anyone writing it as pond one
QUOTE
I've posted previously about my 8000.

First one died after 4 weeks....split diaphragms

Replacement died after over 30 degree day...split diaphragm and broken flapper

QUOTE
basically he had a 4000 that crapped out so he stepped up to the 8000 as summer was approaching and then 3 weeks later *bang...clunk...clunk...clunk* ... this time he was away over a weekend - got home to 140 floaters

QUOTE
I went ahead and purchase an O2Plus 8000 in mid September thinking that they are once-off issue. My ACO-005 died after about 2 years of operation. I think it is repairable, but I just don't have time to open it up...

Anyways, came home today to find the tanks not bubbling with air and the trouts swimming slowly near the surface. The PondOne pump was hot as hell and a knocking sound from the inside. That's after about slightly over 1 month of use

QUOTE
My PondOne O2 8000 pump packed it in again.

This time it wasnt the diaphragm. Dont know what it is. Will see how they deal with it.

Used for completely differant set up. And all feed back I have heard of them being used on aquarium set up such as mine is very good. Consensus = perfect for fish sheds running tanks. Crap for AP application's.

Thank you for that consensus. tongue.gif
I can understand an air pump looking at water in an AP tank and thinking to itself "nah, that is too hard and the water is too deep"

My consensus is pond one seem to work if you give them the right conditions, Resun and Blagdon just work all the time for anything, inside, outside, hot, cold you name it.

I know this is an old thread but what's a AP tank???

I'm was thinking of getting a POND ONE 8000 or 2x 4000 model...

Are these reiable??? The last thing I want is to come home to a lot of floaters because the the pump croaked it after a few months....

I personally would go the Resun LP-60.

Costs a little more but I have had three Resun now, an LP-40, then an LP-100, now an LP-60.

The first 2 I sold on after ~ 3 years of use as my air needs changed.

Never had to pull one apart once.

IMO you don't skimp on air pumps, I rely on mine for filtration and aeration, I don't want one to fail.

Saving $100 doesn't compare to coming home to 50 floating fish.

Andrew

Don't bother with 2 4000's my pond one 8000 3 years on still running strong. Have about 20 outlets running off it.

Thanks heaps guys!!!

I'm still confused after your inputs..

I originally was going for the RESUN LP-60's but thought It was a aqua one is a better brand than resun...

Initial purchase price isn't really an issue atm... I'm just looking into air output and watts used to run as I'm trying to minismise my power consumption as much as I can...

Btw, I emptied my fish room mid to late 2012 as the setup just contained too much wasted power (was my gym room, but just kept adding more and more tanks I picked up from here and there and before I knew it, there was no gym...

So since re-doing the fish room, I've cut out a lot of the power heads and canisters and small air pumps...

Anyways, I just thought an aqua one is better than resun???

Also, 2x pond one 4000 @ 20w each or an 8000 @ 47w VS resun LP 60 @ 60w...
