Some tosser over east at the moment by the name of Steven Trotter, has scammed me and a fellow friend a combined some of $$2300 .

Do not buy from this person as a warning.

Be wary buying as im kinda shocked at how well it was set up.

Sorry to hear that mate.
Nothing said is going to ease the sting.
But. Chin up. There are heaps of really good people to deal with in the hobby.
Matt
P.S Don't be embarrassed its happened to many of us, post as much info as you can about who, where etc. might help someone else right now who's about to fall into the same trap.
ACE forums, queensland cichlid etc.

2300 is almost worth a $200-300 plane ticket over there prob aint gonna get ur money back but you could break all his fingers to make him not be able to wipe his own ass or use his computer to scam anyone else

I believe I have heard that name in similar circumstances on some of the fish boards over east.

You have my sympathies.

There's a member called gingerbeer on qlaf who has a thread about a scammer they were put onto in Melbourne.
I did a search yesterday, searched exotic fish scam australia.
Small thread letting people know to contact him by pm to be put onto the relevant people, I assume authorities or the like.
Not sure that this will help or not, but may assist if its the same scam in recouping funds.

you have a name and bank details which can be given to police when you file a complaint - they can locate him from those details alone... assuming the person whos account is used is the perpetraitor...

it is theft and will be dealt with accordingly... it just may take time to get him :)

+ 1 We need these pests off the market, so they don't do it to anyone else

sorry to hear that Jules.  I just browse through this part of the site.

by the way, i was the one scammed by Joel and still have no update from the police.  To the other members,  please note that Joel is still out there scamming people (even non-pet related deals).  I have recently been contacted by a guy in Vic and he had been scammed and saw the post on this forum about Joel.  it's a good thing also that this perthcichlid.com.au allows posting like this as all my other post got deleted by admin from other forums.  It could have been a warning for other people.

It's very frustrating that these scammers are still out there despite being reported to the police.  I'm still hoping that the police are still on this case and not sleeping on the job.  Not wanting to suggest vigilante revenge but we have laws.

no probs mate.

pretty peeved off knowing our 'justice' system does nothing about it, goes to show that fraud isn't a crime if the cops don't wanna chase it up.
