Scientific Name: Cynotilapia afra 'jalo reef'

Pronunciation: Cy-no-til-ar-pea-a aff-rah jay-low reef

Trade Name(s): Jalo Reef

Distribution: Jalo Reef

Habitat: Rocky areas down to 50mtrs

Diet: Aufwuchs, Zooplankton & phytoplankton

Sexing: Males have a bluish body with black barring & a yellow dorsal & caudal.

Females are not as well colored.

Maximum Size: 8cm

Temperature: 24 to 26c

pH: 7.5 to 9.0

Water Hardness: 300-400ppm

Availability: Fairly common in Oz.

Comments: I have found this species of Afra to be one of the more peaceful type. I have had them breed in a community Mbuna tank without disrupting other species.
