I'd be after some Cyprichromis sp. Jumbo 'Kigoma's and perhaps some Xenotilapia sp. red princess depending on the price of course!

Regardless of wether the prices are AU$ or US$, the cost will be a LOT more, you have consider the shipping and the huge quarantine and inspection etc. costs that will go on top of any list price

Sam is right... shipping and quarantine is what hurts.... thus why it is FAR better to buy in a large quantity. Im hoping maybe some local fish stores might be keen? They also have alot easier access to quarentine facilities than what i do and also the right connections. It also doesnt help us been in perth, considering it would be cheaper to send to Sydney and may have to be the case anyway.

The prices are in US but out dollar isnt far behind...

I would assume a fish that is $5 on that list would cost $20-$25 AUS (per fish) to get it to your aqurium here.

But thats a small price to pay for some fish that are not even in australia at the moment

I would be interested in the following.

Microdontochromis Rotundiventralis x 10 (if back in stock)
Greenwoodochromis Christyi x 10
Neolamproglous Nigreventris x 5
and Maybe
Reganochromis Calliurus x 5

I would expect to be paying around $500 for that lot i think maybe more

You will have to make sure that all the species are on the importable import list otherwise they will destroy them at the airport.

Depending on all the other costs i might be keen. But would like to know what all the other extra cost will actually/exactly be before i say yes.

May be interested in a few each of the following:

Aulonocara Albino Eureka "Great Bloodline" 2in 12 $7
Aulonocara "Ruby Red" Incredible Color 1.in 12 $5
Aulonocara Stuartgranti Chiwindi "Blue Neon" F1 1in 10 $3
Labidochromis Caeruleus Albino 1.in 15 $7
Protomelas Spilonatus Liuli F2 1in 6 $8
Sciaenochromis ALBINO Hap Ahli 1in 20 $12

And some of the sold out ones to if they become available.

You also need to know that some fish have size restrictions like frontosa need to be over 12cm.

The only importable Malawis on that list are the Aulonocara spp and only about 20% of the Tangs are legally importable.....

until there is a commitment from someone to do the Quarantine , someone to pay for the fish , then do a deal with the supplier on DOA's i think there is a good reason why ive never seen a shipment from the US.

best of luck , let me know cause i'd love to get some

Cheers

Pretty much all the importation from America is in marine fish, although it is legal to import freshwater fish as well. The wholesaler in the US will have to be inspected and approved by the AQIS trusted relevant government agency before you can import from them. It's also a pain to import from America in WA as you can't have flights going via the eastern states (which almost all of them are), only from an international flight into Perth. To be honest, if I was importing them at $5 from the US there's no way I'd be selling them for less than $60-70 each. The freight costs from the US are massive, long haul times mean more issues with fish health on arrival and during the quarantine period. Quarantine and customs inspections are several hundred dollars per shipment and the import permits, audits and premise permits are a couple of grand a year. Then you have to hold them for two weeks as they are cichlids, at least one tank per species imported as they have to be seperate and if any tanks have higher than usual mortality you can pretty much write off the tank as they'll generally have to be held for several weeks, with fish taken periodically for testing - so if there isn't more than 50 of a fish in a tank you'll lose most of the fish in testing and even then there is still no guarantee they'll ever be cleared. When in a tank that might have 20-30 cichlids I can turn over 2 lots of 300-600 tetras in the same amount of time with a lot less risk. There's not much point unless you find a business not using their quarantine facility at the time and you are willing to take all the risks with the fish. At the moment I wouldn't be interested as I am already bottlenecked getting bread and butter fish through and just can't afford to tie up the tanks for that amount of time.

Cheers
Pacco

Are there any companies over east that are known importers from overseas, wether it be the US, Europe or Africa?
