Having a go at macro pics atm. got a few to share of my shrimp. As I progress I will add them here.
These are taken with a Nikon D40X with a macro filter on a 85mm lens, I am having trouble with the flash leaving a shadow so looking at finding a way to counter this (tax cheque = macro lens I reckon)
Any tips appreciated.

Nice shots.
What macro filter are you using?
You pretty much need an external flash for macro fish shots.
Keep an eye out on gumtree for an sb600, I got mine for $70.

Is that for a Nikon? or doesnt matter?
The filter just says macro lens and screws on the end of the 18-55mm lens I have, got it in a pack of about 50 diff sorts of filters, so couldnt tell any more about it than that.

sb600 is a Nikon Speedlight.
You can use iTTL which is Awesome!
Look at the Marumi DHG 200 +5 Macro filter.
They dont have the chromatic aberration issues and focus over the whole field.
And for ~$130ea they are alot cheaper than a macro lens
