Hi all,

I need help/ advices.

I am moving to a small house and have limited of space.
I have an existing 3 walls.

I want to build a above ground koi pond....
I have already got the back wall and the two sides retaining wall.
I want to know how to insert a glass piece about 3 metres long x 75 cm high x 19mm thick into the front wall.

If anyone have experience in this area please help me answer these questions:

1) is 19mm glass thick enough?
2) Should i use one piece of 19mm glass or two 12mm laminated glass piece?
3) How do i do the retaining wall to insert the glass in so that it is safe and it wont buckle over time?
4) Do i need to use a aluminium frame to hold the glass so that it wont rust over time?
5) Do you think i should use a acrylic glass piece?

There is limited of information on the web so if you know of a good website or have personal pictures then please feel free to post it here.

All help appreciated.

Many thanks

Sounds like a question for AAA. Checkout the builtin hall/bathroom tank here - http://www.perthcich...showtopic=18265

19mm glass should be fine for that depth or go slightly shorter then 3m if you don't feel safe. I would just simply create a recessed frame either out of wood or aluminum as you thought and silicon it like crazy and make sure theres a even amount of pressure keeping the glass in place as it sets, this method is relying on the silicon as a gasket more so than a adhesive. This is the method majority of diy tank builders use.

How do you intend to seal the pond? As regards the retaining wall I'd have to see it to know. How thick is it? is it double brick or single brick or built of some other material? How deep are the wall foundations etc...?
