#299727 Stocking For My 750L

Posted by Jules on 11 November 2013 - 08:39 AM

get a heap of silver sharks and clown loaches (like 10 of each!) man they look awesome in a group together.

how about some tinfoil barbs? or flagtail prochilodus?

heaps a congo tetras also would look cool!.

handful of spotted silver dollars even?

pair of bay snooks?

there are a few options that you could go with really.

as for a single large show fish they may eat the banded bards. but could try raise a banded leporinus or saratoga (maybe leichardi over jardini).

at least clown loaches and silver sharks can and will get to a decent size in that tank & can hold there own against larger fish.

I agree with the above post, there good at eating algae etc but can really irritate and harm your other fish, id suggest a pleco as a means of a clean up fish (just be wary they crap heaps!)

#299425 Gumtree Ad

Were you gonna grab it Jules ? I was gonna try get it tomorrow after work when I saw his ad this morning, got home looked on gumtree again and yeah I almost sent him a rude email haha

Androo sent me the link, I contacted the guy and I was 2nd to view it after some one who was chasing a specific sex of ornate (so he told me)

I never heard back though, but for 1500 he could stick his ornate up his end, in the msgs we wrote to each other I said if the other guy doesn't take it, ill bring you the 550 and my bucket once they've left.

agreed with alex, ornates are dearer then most bichirs but im not that into them to spend 1500 bucks on one.

#298557 Moving A 7X3

Posted by Jules on 28 October 2013 - 10:01 AM

so im back home, touch wood, appears to be no leaks in the tank from the test fill (assuming the water drop was due to evaporation.)

now im looking for some tressels to sit the aquarium on so I can paint the bottom of the tank, add angline cornering and paint the stand again. can any one lend me some tressels for a week or so (6 pack in it for you) ill come pick up and drop off to you.

then to find some one to drill the tank (hoping my brother can help - hes working at aquotix)

also, is the a glass type polish to buff out minor scratches and blemishes or not so?

#297948 Moving A 7X3

Posted by Jules on 19 October 2013 - 10:19 PM

So tanks home. All safe and sound.
Cost 300 bucks for removalist. So tank so far owes me 600, not bad considering it's a 2 year old 7x3 with stand.
Blokes who moved were wicked and I'd use them again stress free to move big tanks, I just sat back and watched haha.

So it's home for a test fill make sure no leaks etc.
I'll leave it for the week I'm in Bali (fly out tomorrow - heck yeah)
Then once I'm back gonna need some tressles so I can sick the tank in that to paint the bottom and repaint the stand as well as add angle corner straps around the tank edges (to hide silicone)

It could have been a corvette stingray!
Ask him for a pic. I can't even make out what the heck it is hence why I had to ask 5 questions to get one answer.
Some ppl advertising have no idea

#296957 What Spawned In Your Tank Today???

Posted by Jules on 08 October 2013 - 09:41 AM

Yeah it's be good if you got a male and female from the three. How they going now the smaller one still getting picked on ? Eggs did get fertilised, before I went to work this morning saw little tails wiggling out of them :)

WICKED! they did get fertilised then!

how they going now?

the bass are funny. the smallest one is the most dominant now and shows the best colour, so im hopping hes the male and the other 2 females.

My motoro is pregnant and due to pop soon hopefully, the spawn/breeding I have been waiting for!!

#296489 Undergravel Filter Connected To Canister?

Posted by Jules on 01 October 2013 - 11:28 AM

I have never done it but wouldn't see it being much different then a power head on top of a under gravel.

However the mechanical filtration in the canister would be a lot less functional so to say as the gravel will act more like a mechanical filter.

I think you'd just have a larger biological filter for beneficial bacteria in the canister.

Me personally, id run a canister on its own.

To those of you who also have a passion and interest in reptiles, DEC have expanded the reptile keepers list now.

Few more pythons for us!

Shame the Rough scale pythons are cat 5, but none the less, my collection is going to have a few new snakes within the year.
