Trolls feed on reactions, without them they starve, whither and die.

That being said.... I'm pretty sure I posted some pics of 60cm umbee I saw in a Melbourne store somewhere in this thread, this fish would have been on the higher side of 60 too. Owner even told me the fish broke his finger during a water change once.

Edit: spelling

Here it is again in case I didn't.

No mistaking this guy for anything near 30cm... this is what an umbee should look like! easily in the top10 best cichlids I've ever seen in my life.

100% Umbee, and a fine one at that. Most cichlids look very different when comparing juveniles and adults. Probably not the best idea to argue with people about fish that you know very little about. Unless of course your just searching for a rise out of people, in which case... mission accomplished.

Hey J

I just read through here again and it looks like you dont separate your pair.
Are they separated or not?
Or do you have smaller caves for her to hide from him if necessary?

Cheers

Andrew

hi Andrew,

My Pair are always together.
they rip fins here n there but he is big and I think she knows hes the boss now!
There are ornaments that he can not fit in so she can have a break if he's being a pain.
The male is only aggro to her sometimes so lucky so far.....

You are welcome to pop past for a lookie if you like.

Umbee update, pics taken just before last strip down clean, he's a beast but her temper makes her his equivalent(she rips his fins if he gets to amorous when she is not ready!) :

thanks all, he IS smiling, the smile of a baby eater !!!

Feeding every 2nd day is the trick.
Otherwise they dont seem to digest the food enough....
