Hey all this is my first marine tank, I have been researching for about a year now on masa and this site result!

The tank is an Ocean Free 32x36x36cm nano

For lights I have a high output LED with 2 Red lights, 6blue and 8white.

The tank came as a set with skimmer, lighting, sponges and pump. Heating it is an Aqua One 55W Glass Heater. The flow in the tank is 480L/H

It has been running for about 10 weeks now and going well.

Water Parameters:
Ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrate: 0ppm
Phosphate: 0.5ppm
PH: 8.0
Calcium: 460
kH: 9

Fish:

1x Ocellaris Clownfish 2-3cm

Corals:

1x Xenia
1x Gold Hammer
1x Bubble tip Nem
1x Torch coral
1x Toadstool

Invertebrates:

1x Trochus Snail (Hitchhiker)

Here's the Pix! 😄

Equipment Set up and ready to fill

One morning I woke up to a little trochus snail, crawling on the LR, he looks like a ninja in this photo
Lol

image_zps44b0e496.jpg

After watching the water parameters like a hawk for 2 weeks I added a Golden hammer coral

IMG_0322_zpse966cb86.jpg

Then waited another week, water parameters were stable so I added a little torch

IMG_0360_zps5e7ba1d2.jpg

Waited 3 Weeks for Phosphate to go from 0.10 to 0 then added a Green Bubble Tip Anenome

IMG_0480_zps62f0b520.jpg

Then waited another 2 weeks to add a clownfish, he is so cool but Unfortuneately shows no interest in the Bubble tip Nem

IMG_0453_zps6f7fa350.jpg

Soon after adding the clown I found a large crab behind my hammer and spent 2 hours trying to get him out of a tunnel in some live rock!

Thanks for the replies guys.

Tank came in a set with Skimmer, lights, sponges and pump all for $195 I added a heater ($35)

The whole setup with LR and corals and fish would be approx $350-400

I am going to add a peppermint shrimp, Bangaii cardinal and scooter blenny.

Cheers
Tank is from Seaview Aquariums, none in ATM

Update:

I added a scooter blenny yesterday, he/she's awesome, very active and follows me around the tank

Corals have been growing extremely quickly since i started feeding the fish brine shrimp instead of pellets.

Lookin good! And a bangaii would look mint in there!!

BUT, I see a bristle worm in your live rock (2nd pic with your scooter dragonette)

try remove it if you can (with tweezers id suggest). Some ppl say there not a problem, however others think there horrible

Great looking nano tank mate, been toying with the idea of having a small marine tank.

How much maintenance are you doing weekly and how much are you spending weekly/monthly on water an stuff.

Cheers

Flame hawks are awesome! Try get a nice little one. Every marine tank ive had, had a flame hawk such vibrant colour and awesome character!

But bangaiis look stunning as do the royal gramma (assume your talking about gramma loreto not paccagnella - the false variety)

Thanks!!

I spend about 30-45 minutes a week on stuff like water changes, emptying skimmer cup etc. I do water 25% weekly water changes and that costs me $2 a week with salt water bought from seaview aquariums. All up with everything you see in the tank Includibg water, fish, corals, live rock, sand, equipment, the tank itself, test kits etc would've cost me $350-400. I am adding about 3-7 grams of Red Sea Reef Foundation monthly. I bought a kilo of it which cost me $33 but will last for years.

If you would like more info feel free to PM me, I'm happy to help.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

I am going to re-scape the tank today, I would like more room for corals
Is it normal for scooter blennies to bury themself in the sand at night? Lol

No worries mate happy to help.

After trying to make a better scape, fiddling around with the rocks for half an hour I decided I liked the old one so changed it back lol.

Got some new corals from Vebas:

5x tiny orange corallimorphs
1x disk coral

Will upload photos when I get home tonight.

I won't be adding anything for a month now. I'll just let everything settle in.

Cheers

Sounds like your getting right into it mate.

Best building a reef up slowly, especially in the nano reef tank aspect - so slowing down for the month is a sensible idea.

If you want the maximum foot print for more corals use the staircase method with your base rock. Highest at back to lowest at front, you can achieve this by making a staircase out of light diffuser. This gets the live rock off the bottom for better circulation and also allows the fish to swim underneath it.

I don't like that staircase look as it resembles to much of a rock wall.

get creative, make shelves and what not. My mate has glued rocks to magnets to make fake platforms on the back glass, looked awesome. ill be trying this once I start my nano build.
