Im at work... Bored witless... Using PCS to pass time.

hahahahah Im working!

 

Been flat out working on two CAT 14H Graders, very dirty machines and I have a very tight time frame to get them done by.

 

Hers some funky stuff Ive been working on lately.

How do you do that?

 

He can see your login history and the IP address you logged into the forum from. From that he just does reverse DNS on the IP (basically looks up to see if there's a common name associated with the IP address). From there it is very easy to determine the owner of the domain name etc.

 

Only really works for connections coming from a workplace, from your home all he would be able to tell is who your ISP was and what state your are in.

Plug your home IP address into it.. the best you could hope for is the location of your ISP's POP (point of presence).

 

Geo IP is a useful tool to programatically determine an IP's _approximate_ location; nearest city & country. That's all.
