#360243 Wtb: Water Container 200L, Was 300

Anyone got some of those 200 litre drums?

#360092 Wtb: Water Container 200L, Was 300

Posted by BengaBoy on 05 March 2017 - 10:19 AM in Classifieds

Looking to buy tank, drum, container suitable for water aging.

Prefer around 300 litres but can be larger.

Everything on gumnuts seems to be 200l or IBC 1000l

Prefer tall/narrow so can fit through standard doorway.

Also, might be outside so something that can insulated.

Not really interested in using an aquarium.

I suppose I could get two 200l and interconnect them?

#359968 Little Ralphy Says.....

Posted by BengaBoy on 01 March 2017 - 04:06 PM in Off The Wall

the trumpster on math

“I have to say a lot of people have been asking this question. No, really. A lot of people come up to me and they ask me. They say, ‘What’s 2+2?’ And I tell them look, we know what 2+2 is. We’ve had almost eight years of the worst kind of math you can imagine. Oh my god, I can’t believe it. Addition and subtraction of the 1s the 2s and the 3s. Its terrible. Its just terrible. Look, if you want to know what 2+2 is, do you want to know what 2+2 is? I’ll tell you.
First of all the number 2, by the way I love the number 2. It’s probably my favorite number, no it is my favorite number. You know what, I mean, you know. So, we have all these numbers and we can add them and subtract them and add them. TIMES them even. Did you know that? We can times them OR divide them, they don’t tell you that, and I’ll tell you, no one is better at the order of operations than me. You wouldn’t believe it. That I can tell you. So, we’re gonna be the best on 2+2, believe me. OK? Alright. Thank you.”

if the fish have been in transport for a while, or sometimes even if not, I will add some Stress Coat.

not sure if it helps the fish, but it makes me feel better :)

I don't use O-ring grease but I always make sure it is wet before reseating.

check your hoses, joins, taps etc.

fully primed? gentle rocking doesn't get rid of all air?

#356926 Sold: Eheim Automatic Fish Feeders

Posted by BengaBoy on 16 November 2016 - 04:03 PM in Classifieds

Eheim Automatic Fish Feeder Model 3581

One of the best auto feeders. Proven design.

·       Up to 4 feed times per day

·       Good control over volume fed with adjustable food shutter and 1 or 2 rotations per feed

·       Fan keeps food dry

·       Manual override for feeding or testing

·       Battery operated – no worries about power outages. Low battery warning.

These are like new. Some only used for two weeks.

Each come with original box and instructions.

Doesn’t have the optional mounting bracket but work fine sitting on the glass lid. In fact, imho that is better because you can minimise the aquarium lid opening for feeding.

none left.

.

Darlington:   PM me if interested

Takes two 1.5 AA batteries – not supplied, but have some to test feeder.

New around $80-$90.

Free Resun magnetic glass cleaner with each feeder.

·       Some new still in packaging.

·       Some suit 10mm glass, some thinner.

#356563 Ehiem Gravel Vac Inspired Tank Cleaner

Posted by BengaBoy on 05 November 2016 - 08:26 AM in Technical & Equipment

I think the idea is to do a quick clean in between the water-changes - DIY inspired by the Eheim Quick Vac Pro

I must be missing something here.

I watched the vid and if I want to do that, like when I am cleaning out the last of the substrate when emptying a tank, I just drop in a hose and use gravity feed.

If I want to save any of that substrate I just run the hose into a bucket first.

#356446 Free: Pool & Spa Test Strips

Posted by BengaBoy on 02 November 2016 - 07:03 AM in Classifieds

I was testing de-bleaching of Purigen via rinsing in tap water rather than an expensive large dose of Prime/decholrinator.

so testing Chlorine primarily.

#356330 Free: Pool & Spa Test Strips

HACH Aquachek 7

Pool & Spa Test Strips

Each strip tests:

·       Total Hardness

·       Total Chlorine

·       Total Bromine

·       Free Chlorine

·       pH

·       Total Alkalinity

·       Cyanuric Acid

I used some for an experiment on aquarium water, so at least 90 left I would say.

#355605 Hydra Internal Filters - Hydra 40 And 50

Posted by BengaBoy on 01 October 2016 - 08:48 AM in Technical & Equipment

A great discussion and differing opinions which has just about convinced me to go back to 'old school' undergravel and sponge filters that I used back in the late 70's and 80's - except for one small problem, that LFS's don't seem to sell UG's any more??
Oh well - I guess its back to making my own again :-)

plenty on evilbay Chris

#355383 How To Easy Water Changes Big Tank?

Posted by BengaBoy on 17 September 2016 - 08:59 AM in Technical & Equipment

like Johnno I have a pipe, pvc, shaped a bit like the fill pipe below, to loop over tank so drains to exact requirements -while that is draining I vacuum with a 2nd hose.

for filling I use this:

fill pipe 1.jpg

outlet is just at desired water height - when I can't hear the splashing I know tank is full.

didn't think of the smoke alarm idea ... cool

Depends if he gets the other three games right and no one catches up to him

not according to Johnnos rules... you had to get the 4 right.

which means only Mattia can win.

or everyone loses.

Johnno can then start a new comp ;)
