Male is captive bred from Pilbara Pythons (lineage unknown)

Fingers crossed for something weird out of this mix.

Might as well throw this in too :P

#358558 Collecting In The South West

Posted by sajica on 12 January 2017 - 01:19 PM

Just a heads up guys, the current WA Government Gazette lists Salamader fish as Endangered. I'll post a screen shot later when I get around to it. I wouldn't be purposely trying to collect them.

You will still need something to bind heavy metals. I just use API Tap Water Conditioner these days as it's pretty damn concentrated and cheap.

#357166 Turtle Tank

Having not kept turtles as I don't really have much of an interest in them, here's a link to DPAW's keepers sheet.

https://www.dpaw.wa....ses_turtles.pdf

Don't forget they will need a licence to keep reptiles but it's cheap and they can apply for a Cat 3 to start off with, no need to own a Cat 2 and upgrade.

Soooooo a blue motorbike as well?

Fantastic work Brett, Tell her she is an amazing artist and should defiantly do some more interesting species from Malawi ;)

Sure might as well add that to a few monitor lizards, snakes, birds and flowers :P

Of course a few American and Lake Malawi Cichlids and  Rainbowfish.

#352660 Throwback Thursday

Posted by sajica on 08 June 2016 - 11:44 PM

Not sure if anyone wants to participate but it might be interesting for other people to see some old pics of fish that some of us used to keep. Some of which may still be around or disappeared from the hobby.

Conditions. You can only post 1 fish per person and only on a Thursday.

Fish can be Cichlid, Catfish, Rainbow/ whatever as long as you kept it and have a fish you took of it, regardless of how crap the camera is or film quality. This isn't a photo comp. ;)

I'll kick it off with this bloke.

Used to be here in WA in the trade as Pseudotropheus elongatus "Mazimbwe" but more correctly referred to as Pseudotrophus elongatus Goldbar/ Likoma.

Taken on my 1.3mp Kodak digital camera back in the day :P

Huge thanks and congratulations to the committee crew for trying something different and a huge thanks to all the sponsors that donated all the loot for the prize bags. As always the raffle table had some decent offerings too.

The whole thing was run well. *thumbs up*

Is there any chance for example of having a list of stuff that either the Lake Malawi or Lake Tang conservation people need and if people have spares of those items they could donate those too?

#347366 Custom Reptile Enclosure

Posted by sajica on 30 November 2015 - 04:07 PM

You're not really allowed to keep snakes on sand. DPAW have issued warnings to a few people about it. I thought that was the crushed walnut shell or whatever it is that you guys use in Pet Citys

As a self described native fauna enthusiast, I love all the Aussie stuff. Would be hard to be a lover of Aust natives living abroad. It gets a bit frustrating when they have species they can keep that we can't legally keep in WA like certain types of Nephurus species and others but when you compare some of the ugly woma, BHP and Bobtails they have over in the US we are pretty damn lucky to have these things almost in our backyards and be able to chase specific colour morphs or locales.

I'd love to keep a Jackson's Chameleon but that will probably never happen.
