The biggest threat to our freedom today is from hard line leftists

Which groups are you referring to as hard line leftists? The Greens, the Unions, the university students?

Radical muslims are right wing not left wing. People of a leftist persuasion do not support radical Islam. Can you give a couple examples?

Smirq, I subscribe to chaos theory in respect of politics: "When the present determines the future, but the approximate present does not approximately determine the future." Small divurgences in conditions will yield widely divurging results. The only predictable long term outcome of politics is that it will be unpredictable. The operation of either political ideology will inevitabley result in something far from what was intended. There are too many variables.

(Caveat: my knowledge and understanding of chaoes theory is limited as I am not a mathematician. Read: http://en.wikipedia....ki/Chaos_theory)

#292483 Fishless Cycle Doing My Head In...would Love Some Help Please

Posted by Anka on 16 August 2013 - 01:53 PM

Hi mate,

I recommend calling Aquotix and asking to speak to Ollie.

He will be able to walk you through the process (if he isn't busy).

When I do fishless cycles I always use Aquotix's home brand ammonia. I'd always be cautious of buying chemicals intended for cleaning as they may contain other nasties.

From memory, I think you can tell that the tank is cycled when you put in enough ammonia to bring it to 2.0ppm and then within 24 hours there is no ammonia or nitrite.

I don't recommend doing more than a 50% water change. You kill the bacteria and essentially undo your progress when you do such a large WC.

Good luck

Regards,

Andrew

P.S. for future reference this is what you want: http://www.aquariumo...m-chloride-20g/

Aquarium Online Store is operated by Aquotix. They ship as well.

I hope the cops find the guy and manage to put him away for a long time.

That being said, after my recent run in with the cops where every single one of them lied to me and tried to cover up for their cop buddies, I have diminished respect and faith in the Police.

#291141 The Price Of A Fish

Posted by Anka on 05 August 2013 - 11:44 AM

If you feel happy after the sale/purchase isn't that enough? Why does it have to be a bargain?

There doesn't always have to be winners and losers.

#291121 The Price Of A Fish

Posted by Anka on 05 August 2013 - 01:25 AM

Simply put, people will sell at the highest price that they think people will buy.

Obviously that'a just a general rule. I for one usually give away my fish or used items (unless they are $$).

A huge factor in the price of some fish is that they are not legal imports and therefore demand tends to exceed supply. Simple economics.

#289264 More People Die Trying To Get To Christmas Island

The more illegals, asylum seekers and refugees ("IAR") that we let in the greater deterioration of the quality of life in Australia. Economically we can't let everyone in.

An increase of IAR is also proportionately related to increases in crime. Look at the Sudanese gangs that are forming in Mirrabooka, Balga etc. There have been numerous instances of gang-related acts of violence on innocent people over the last few months. If this continues then our country will continue to deteriorate.

In my opinion, if you are granted asylum or are a legitimate refugee and you then commit a crime of violence (assault, aggravated robbery, rape etc) or another serious crime (break and entering, stealing a car, etc) then you should have your humanitarian visa and permanent residence canceled and return from where you came.

My family came here from South Africa. We lost 80% of our wealth coming over legally. Yes, we might have been more privileged than asylum seekers and refugees but we too made the same sacrifices and we left for the exact same reasons (lack of opportunities, violence and instability). It angers me when refugees are given large welfare cheques when my family had to struggle financially for the first 5 years – my dad didn’t manage to bring home money until the sixth year (we had to live off our limited cash reserves).

That being said I can’t ever blame anyone for wanting a higher quality of life and I recognise Australia’s ethical obligation to grant asylum/refuge to legitimate asylum seekers and refugees. However, there are two ways of going about this: the right way and the wrong way. Coming over illegally is clearly the wrong way and they should be sent back immediately and without question.

#289260 How Many Discus Can I Fit In My Tank, And What Are Good Tank Mates?

Posted by Anka on 16 July 2013 - 08:46 AM

Hi guys,

I want to set up a discus tank (of all things).

Tank is 4x1.5x2.

2x eheim 2215s running.

Was thinking of doing a medium-planted tank with only a small amount of wood and a few rocks. Nice and simple.

So, how many discus could I keep comfortably?

And what are good tank mates? I was thinking of a couple L-Numbers (L397 and/or L333) and maybe some cardinal tetras.

Cheers

Andrew

Oh, and maybe some Geos?

#289092 Best Feeder Fish?

Posted by Anka on 14 July 2013 - 04:59 PM

Breeding feeders is a waste of time and money IMO.
Keep them on good pellets that's all they need.

+1

Good quality pellets cannot really be substituded with feeders. Your fish will be happier and healthier with pellets.
