#301562 More On Port Arthur

They have also wanted uniform Occupational Health and Safety Laws in Australia for 10 years... I'm pretty sure they didnt cause any mass workplace fatalities to bring about change.

There is all sorts of legislation written in draft for years at a time before it is actioned. This is not an unusual situation at all.

Also, I would say from memory there was not a high profile social or political drive for gun control in Australia as there was elsewhere in the world. Why bother killing 36 people for a reasonably low profile issue.

#301525 More On Port Arthur

I grew up not far from there Johnno. I remember the day this happened very well too! This is a way overblown and dramatized account despite the fact that many locals are very dubious about the official account of the event.

Ask yourself "who gains" for pinning this on government agenda???? America's NRA perhaps?

Martin Bryant was a simpleton not a complete vegetable as portrayed by this article. There were many disturbing reports of Bryant in his youth displaying characteristics of a psychopath. Not saying he should be convicted on this but the article is wildly inaccurate mate.

I suggest watching "The Reefer Madness" just for a laugh... Anyone else seen it?

#300943 Marron

Posted by malawiman85 on 26 November 2013 - 04:52 PM

Marron do like to go walkies as soon as conditions are not to their liking. Doesn't really seem to occur to them that there might not be another water source within walking distance.

There are some very interesting stories here on PCS about marron legging it.

Bigjohnnofish has a mate that has marron in farm dams so Johnno might be able to help out.

You might have more luck with tanks rather than dams/ponds as far as being able to control their environment.

Tandanus Catfish are supposed to be top eating and go great in dams and are pretty hardy... Also they got no legs, if they try and escape... Beached as Bro.

I swear my cod has agoraphobia! I would have to poke the SOB with a pointy stick to get him out of that pvc pipe.
He was recently put into isolation for an unprovoked assault on two slightly bigger silver perch. The charge has since been upgraded to two counts of murder.

I roll on black enamel. 3 coats, doesnt take long... Most people probably spray though.
You can use anything really. There is not really any wear and tear on the back surface.

#299854 Sumps

Posted by malawiman85 on 13 November 2013 - 11:12 AM

Yep plastic storage containers from red dot are good. Better with the lid on so they keep there shape at the top a bit better. I use them for all sorts of stuff. Hospital tanks, quarantine, sump, spare tanks in a pinch. Ive got some barra fingerlings in a 150l one at the moment and a 55l one as a sump. Got another 150 full of hornwort that i am now cycling water through for my 1600 ltr outdoor pond tank. Another 55 is being used to quarantine a new dwarf gourami. They are good multifunctional and easy to silicone up if you do crack it.

There are a lot of pond products aquarists could look at instead of the way more expensive brand name aquarium versions.
