what size canister are people running on their 4x2x2? currently using a 2217 eheim but doesn't seem to have enough power, looking for recommendations to buy a new canister for the 4x2x2 and big enough to possibly run a 6x2x2 if i needed cheers

What are you stocking in the tank?
One option is adding a second similar canister to the other end of the tank.
I have a 6x2.5x2 and I'm running two of the biggest astro's from Aquotix. My tank is not heavily stocked though

not to keen on running more than one canister as piping will be seen, not going to be very overstocked just few natives, whats the Aquaone Nautilus 2700 worth?

the bigger the better - the longer the wetter !!!!!! old saying applies to many situations.....
biggest cannister will be your best option.... no money spared......
biggest astro cannister good option..... on a budget.......
biggest diy cannister you can build.... got no money.....
my choice - 2 filters is always better than 1.... when its time to clean filters you clean them 3 weeks apart and it lessens your chances of removing too much beneficial bacteria.... also i like to put a 30cm x 12cm x 12cm sponge over the intake of your cannister filter - inside the fishtank....also adds more filtration with no added running costs....

Don't get the ones with uv bulbs imo - mine eventually rusted out and never thought the uv bulb did much (I assume high flow).
No self primer (I dream of those) but on mine there is a seal at top of inlet hose to pour water down a funnel.

Plus consider after market service.... local importers vs interstate importers... local service for local products often has it's rewards long term....

Cannington isn't too far from me, so you're always welcome to swing past and have a look.
They run quiet and are easy to clean.

Personally id put an Eheim 2180 in it, filter and heating sorted in one robust and reliable package. Can do a inline UV unit and hide it all inside the cabinet if youre handy enough. If you do take the plunge and get a 6x2x2 have it bottom drilled and hide the pipework behind rocks or wood.
