LOL that guy thinks this is some kind of new thing??? People Been Trawling Reefs For Century (And The Bycatch Is Either ground up and sold as Burley Or Dumped,) Ranging From Small Crabs To Undersized Fish *VOMIT*

Check this out

http://en.wikipedia....th_Pacific_Gyre

http://en.wikipedia....n_garbage_patch (from perth)

its not just floating plastic that's the problem the gyres are moving and grinding the plastic/Rubbish into tiny consumable pieces and fish are eating it

Edit: Thank God Someone Trying To Fix It, That Device Seems Pretty Feasable Hopefully It Passes Its Tests And We Start Cleaning Up Our Mess

That was an interesting read johnno.
Real sad to hear the way some commercial fishers treat the ocean. Yes I know it's been happening for years and years BUT it doesn't make it any easier to accept for me.

I support these guys:

http://www.ifaw.org/australia

http://www.wwf.org.au/

They do a lot of good work regarding the ocean and conservation. If you want to help out then you can make monthly donations or a once off donation :)

i like the 19 yr olds idea of a pastic collector... they might fill up so quick they'd need bigger collection bins on them...
interesting reading in regards to gyres where rubbish collects... someone is gonna make money out of recycling all that plastic they collect assuming this goes ahead of course at a decent sized scale it would help cleanup thats for sure... seeing worlds oceans floating plastic ends up in 5 locations pushed by sea currents... so if you got lost at sea in a floating boat thats where you'd end up :)
at the marine rubbish tip !!!
