Hey guys. Just a couple of questions on making a sump for my 8 x 2.5 x 2.5.

Firstly, what size tank should I be using? Is a standard 4' or 6' sufficient?

Secondly, I've had sumps before but never built one/ got one custom made. Any ideas or tips you've found along the way for a good design. I like the idea of maybe having plant in the sump with a light on them.

Thanks in advance guys

From my experience around 20% of the volume of the tank is perfect sump size. Running a planted section is a great idea, the plants roots act as a natural filtration and if you plant them in expanded clay you've basically got an aquaculture system as well! I've always kept my sumps reasonably simple with a nice big section for all my extra equipment like skimmers and calcium reactors:)
