An old friend - tsn

Their has been a recent increase in the amoungt of interest shown in tankbusters. My favourite type of fish! Beware, most of the 'tankbuster' type fish should be left to the serious hobbyists. A 6x2 is not going to suffice for long. I have seen a heap of Alligator gars come back up for sale lately, once hey have hit 40-50cm and have out grown their old homes.
My favourite fish I have ever owned. My beloved Tiger shovelnose. I grew her from a tiny 5cm twig to a 3' mass of muscle. An absolute powerhouse of a fish. Unfortunately she jumped out of her tank smashing straight through the 12mm cover glass. I saw the whole thing and put her back in, but her injuries were too great and I had to put her out of her misery. I would compare that day to losing a dog, a truely majestic animal! pure beauty!

It took 18months to reach that size, no joke. On 2x a week feedings and 2x 25% water changes a week, coupled with great filtration.
Was in a 8x3x2.5

One being my reef tank and the other is my 8x3 housing my Undulated Moray eel, he is an absolute beast of a fish. They max out at around 150cm, mine is roughly 80cm at the moment and growing at a good rate.
Although he is leaving me in the near future. Has been a pleasure to own, as I'm going to set up my 8x3 as a tankbuster tank once again. Work in progress. I also have my new house under construction at the moment, with a overly large built in aquarium seperating my gym and my fish room. Will be fanastic when done.
Here is my undy -
A couple past tankbusters -
Green arowana.
Datnoid at 14".

What were the stripes like on the tig? what size? just out of interest. I have seen a few crackers kept by US keepers with squiggled lines, looks magic. Although any tig is a special fish!

i'm more then aware the size of this monster will get. i remember seeing yours a couple of years ago when i got that toga off u.
3' in 18 months wow!. i feed mine a couple of times a week with a weekly water change as well. it's currently in a 4*2*2 grow out tank but when it's a bit bigger it can join my other monsters in a 7*3*2.

Roughly 1cm a week. Crazy growth rate. Only other fish I ever had grow that fast was my Arapaima, although I only had it a short time before I moved it onto someone a little braver then myself (or sillier)...
What else are you keeping in your 7x3?
mmmmm tangerine zebra!

Here is a pic of my old pair of senegals. Spawned for me a heap of times, but eggs were quite tricky to hatch...
