They are great aquarium fish.
they cant be bred in aquariums, for that you would need a sizeable pond and hormone injection.
Ill upload a couple pics tomorrow when I jump on my computer.
Great fish but they need a big tank to themselves and lots of food.

Murray Cod don't actually require hormone injection.
They have been bred in dams using an old 44 gallon drum as a cave.

Technically to import cod into WA at all you need an approved translocation permit from fisheries. To breed, grow out or resell you are required to have an aquaculture permit... even though you may not be doing it on anything like a commercial scale.
I Say technically because a lot of people do import them without a permit :-)
Murray Cod are not commercially bred locally, though there are supposed to be a few small wild murray cod populations in WA waters and there are definitely farm dams about that most likely have breeding cod in them.

Its a lot of tank and money to dedicate to a single fish but i'd love to have a +2 foot Murray Cod in a monster tank...

Ive got part of my tank planted with vallis, some big rocks in the other corner and a fairly open area in between with a mangrove stump in the middle. Having a few different snags makes the fish more confident that it can hide if it feels threatened. This makes it less likely to hide all day.
